The Fiat CR25 was an Italian twin-engined ground attacker. The project started in the tirties when the Italian company Fiat took part in a competition made by the Regia Aereonautica about a new ground attack aircraft. It was chosen as an existing civil project and reconverted into a military aircraft that followed the requirements expressed. The first prototype was made on June 22, 1937. It was judged in a very positive way by the test pilots of the Regia Aereonautica that founded the CR25 as a versatile, maneuverable, and good-performing aircraft with more possibilities than the Ba88. The Regia Aereonautica ordered a total of 40 units before the first aircraft took off and later reduced their number to just 8 units and changed their role from ground attack to reconnaissance. Those aircraft were all delivered in 1940, but the Regia Aeronautica showed no interest in actually using them in the first place, and they were left aside. They later reconsidered their capabilities and started using them in their intended roles, but in the end, they were not able to do much in the second global conflict. During their small service time-frame, they still scored some records; they were able to perform all their recon missions without ever losing to enemy fire or technical issues. At the end of 1943, the only 4 CR25s that were still capable of flying were immagazzinated, and they never saw service anymore. The CR25 was made mainly of metal and was powered by two Fiat A74 engines that gave the aircraft a maximum speed of 490 km/h. It was armed with three 12.7 mm Bredas Safat machineguns, two in the front and one on a turret placed on the back.

Why it should be in the game: It will bring to the Italian tt a low tier good performing light attacker that could help the Italian Ground lineup with a new CAS.
