History.
The FIAT B.R.1 (Bombardiere Rosatelli 1) was a two-seat biplane bomber made of mixed wood and canvas produced by the Italian company Fiat in the 1920s. It was the evolution of the previous Fiat B.R., to whose creation the engineer Celestino Rosatelli dedicated himself starting from 1923. It was, essentially, an update of the previous Fiat B.R. aircraft, which took over from it starting from 1924. Already from that year the aircraft was immediately integrated into the ranks of the Regia Aeronautica, and almost all the examples produced were put into service. Some examples were tested for new bomb cylinders and the plane, given the good results obtained as a light reconnaissance bomber, also aroused a certain interest in China, Hungary and Svenska flygvapnet, the Swedish air force, which purchased two specimens, which were decommissioned in 1937 after little use. From this aircraft came others of the same series also designed by the engineer Rosatelli and which met with a certain success, as well as various other vehicles by Rosatelli himself.
Armaments and propulsion.
The aircraft was armed with a 8 mm Saint-Étienne machine gun mod. 1907 placed in a rotating carriage placed behind, usable by the rear machine gunner. Furthermore the aircraft could load 1 torpedo or 630 kg of bombs. In terms of engine, the aircraft was powered by a 700 hp Fiat A.14 engine. With this engine the plane could reach a maximum speed of 240 km/h.
