Description of the Problem
The A‑10A (Early), a premium aircraft at BR 10.0, is currently in a severely underpowered state due to the poor performance of its only guided munition – the AGM‑65B. This missile is currently suffering from multiple serious limitations:
- Extremely short lock range: The AGM‑65B struggles to lock onto moving targets beyond 3–5 km, far below its stated effective range.
- Ineffective warhead: The missile fails to destroy even light armored targets consistently, often producing no damage or minor module hits. Overpressure rarely occurs.
- Unreliable seeker: The TV guidance frequently loses lock due to terrain, foliage, or small movements, especially when tracking vehicles across hills or trees.
- No alternative munitions: Unlike the A‑10A Late or A‑10C, the Early version has no access to AGM‑65D, GBU‑10/12/16, or any other smart weapons. This leaves it with outdated and ineffective CAS capabilities in high-tier matches.
Why This Is a Major Issue
- The A‑10A Early is a paid premium vehicle, but offers no effective precision strike ability under current conditions.
- The aircraft is matched against top-tier SPAAs (such as VT1, ADATS, TOR-M1), but has no stand-off weapons with viable lock ranges or impact damage.
- Other nations’ aircraft at similar BRs have far superior loadouts (e.g., AGM‑65D/G, GBU‑series bombs, laser guidance).
- No option to upgrade or modify the loadout, which forces players to rely solely on the malfunctioning AGM‑65B.
Suggested Fixes
- Improve AGM‑65B seeker and lock performance:
- Allow more reliable locking at 6–8 km on moving targets.
- Make TV lock-on behavior less sensitive to foliage/terrain occlusion.
- Fix explosive performance:
- Improve overpressure and damage to reflect the missile’s real explosive mass (57 kg HEAT).
- Add alternative weapon options (if possible):
- Allow optional loadout with at least AGM‑65D or GBU‑12 to keep the vehicle relevant.
- Temporarily reduce BR:
- If no changes are made, consider lowering the BR to 9.7 to reflect its current combat effectiveness.
Conclusion
As it stands, the A‑10A Early cannot perform its intended role in realistic battles. It is extremely frustrating to use in its current state and provides a poor experience for paying players. A reevaluation of the AGM‑65B and the A‑10A Early’s viability is urgently needed.
