Feedback regarding recent update – adding vehicles to lineups

I had a 10.3 line up and got a free abrams which is 10.7.

Also doing stock probably wont encourage people to stay since leaving doesnt lock those crews.

Not that you’re in anyway in charge of any of that, just saying what immediately came to mind.

I rarely, if ever one death leave. But it feels like a punishment sometimes when I am three spawns in and the 2nd or 3rd death was spawn camping and I have no options left. Like, okay thanks I got a kill or a cap and I have to spawn and die two more times before the game thinks I have suffered enough to leave without locking half or more of my line up.

Sure, I also think they shoukd get parts, FPE, and tracks and maybe more than stock heat shells so it feels like you at least have a decent option. Getting a stock mbt spawn against era clad enemies is… annoying.

Then the match you were in were a 10.3-11.3 and you got a lucky roll in the free window BR of 9.7-10.7 :)

Ah okay that makes sense. So it’s based in the BR range of the match, not just the specific player.

My take on this is that it is a very good idea, when implemented properly. The lvl 1 crews are completely fair, I don’t mind. But a lvl 1 crew and a completely stock tank is not it. I hate using HEAT in top tier so much that I will always just GE the first APFSDS round for a vehicle.

If you’re a player with a singular premium and you’re grinding the British tech tree then you are essentially set to have an entire line up you can reliably use (most high tier British vehicles have no HEAT shells) but for every other tree you’re kinda out of luck.

I agree. This change is an obviously P2W mechanic, designed to give premium players with high-ranking pack vehicles even more dominance over the battlefield. Now that every premium vehicle comes with another similar-rank tank and SPAA, premium spam will become even more cancerous.

Meanwhile, players who grinded their way up the ranks are punished, and the very essence of this game is damaged. It’s bad enough having people buy their way to the top, but it’s even worse when the people who honestly put in the effort are the ones who suffer from this change.

Make no mistake, you will inevitably see many players defend this mechanic, as they are either the ones Gaijin is pandering to or the willfully unaware. The gradual oversimplification of the game, the lack of bug fixes and quality content, the masses of unique vehicles locked behind a paywall, and this new addition of free vehicles to lineups - they’re all manifestations of the same problem, which eventually will lead to the fall of War Thunder.

Another important topic of note is the fact that SPAA are included in the lineups. While Gaijin presumably intends for the random added vehicles to not be powerful (given that the vehicles in the new mechanic are stock and have base crews), they have made a large oversight in their implementation of this mechanic. Most SPAA at the BRs specified, 9.3 and above, have no significant differences between their stock and fully unlocked versions. They have the same radar capabilities, the same missiles, or the same shells.

Therefore, this is an incredibly unjustified mechanic, especially given that players can even receive vehicles above their maximum BR!

I can’t see many people spawning a stock spaa with crew level 1 in order to combat CAS.
All this does is give if CAS an easy target to remove enemy team tickets.

Well, the idea behind them is awesome but the implementation of this idea is horrible. You get stock vehicles with a stock crew that are basically just free kills for the enemies. While i somewhat get it that the crews are stock, i don’t understand how gaijin thought its a good idea to not even give them darts or just the bare minimum, parts and fpe. They are a useless addition and outside of using this feature once or twice to get a lucky kill on a light vehicle/spaa, i always preferred to just leave after i died in the rest of my deck

WILL NEVER WORK.

The better choice would have been for Gaijin to not add this mechanic at all. It further increases the divide between P2W and free players, discourages genuine play of the game, and spits in the faces of those who grinded for countless hours to legitimately get their vehicles.

Anyone that argues against match abandonment punishment are 1 death leavers. Change my mind.

Might be due to because those games you voluntarily leave, crew lock does the same thing, but when you’re out of vehicles, not much you can do.

Maybe, maybe not, but you do realize, some tech tree’s have a huge gap, lets take britain as an example, you jump from 9.0 straight to 10.3, you see the BR gap here right, it isnt optimal to bring a 9.0 tank to 10.3 or 11.3 when uptiered, it just doesnt make sense, and same thing for sweden, 9.3 to 10.7, doesnt work well.

Not worth my time with the closed mind you have demonstrated.

In the current state of the feature, yes, you are correct. Thus I would perfectly support having the default units get some useful level of crew skill (like lvl50 I see a lot of people here proposing), as well as some amount of the upgraded ammunition, and lastly for the ones lacking radar a short-range lead indicator.

This feature, if further-developed, could remove the “helpless tanker victim mentality” that keeps much of the CAS debate going. Especially if paired with copying Naval’s default aircraft slots into the mix.

I have done it ground wise over 3 nations to 12.0. QQ imo

I agree completely, it makes me feel like there is no point on researching spaa… also it makes playing helis insanely hard.

As a 1DL player it doesn’t effect me at all. I only play about 25% - 33% of the games offered to start with, and those that I am in this doesn’t change the fact that I’ll only be around for one death.

That said, I have no problem with the addition. It addressed none of the reasons why I 1DL (or just Return to Hanger at the match start). But that doesn’t mean others don’t make use of it, which is fine.
