Fakhour 90

Yeah fakours feel absolutely busted and impossible to notch/multipath until you realize that the F14 radar is headon only. This means the best strategy is simply flying away from the F14 for a second. Simply fly around in a circle once and you’re safe. It’s super effective and much less of a hassle than trying to notch with potentially a terrible RWR.

I must say… not that many planes get enough countermeasures for the br’s they are at… Like… we don’t have the current day ECM systems yet.
So, i do get his point though, just not for the Fakour, but for all missles.

I won’t say no to more F90. But i don’t really care about uptiers in it. In fact, the 14.0 are usually more likely to be at altitude and more cocky that they have the long range weapon in the AIM120. 13.0 and below are usually hugging the deck more often than not, which is not ideal.

Aim54 should be buffed. Fakour shouldnt even be in the game the likelyhood of that missile even being functional is minimal

There’s enough evidence to contradict that, it seems more than likely it’s just a Hawk with Phoenix control surfaces, and wouldn’t surprise me at all.

That’s fair considering reliable sources are very hard to come by on the missile I’ve also seen someone claim that it’s been testified from a Iranian MiG-29 with a picture that I cannot verify

The same article the picture is from claims that supposedly the Iranian mig 29s have been upgraded to 9.12 with radar and avionics on par with Mig-29M

I was the one who posted this image on the forums awhile ago, sadly someone corrected me. It’s not a Fakour 90 or any of the Iranian AAMs sadly, as much as I wish it was. I forget what it is or where the video came from, let me go look for it. I think I remember it being some kind of ASM or ARM missile, lemme go find the source

There’s proof of the export version of the missile being tested and fired by an Iranian Tomcat:

I found the photo on an article used as a reference for the f90s wikipedia (I know it isn’t trustworthy)

No proof exists, other than promotional imagery depicting possible plans for tested integration, but nothin ever came of them. No F-14 has ever been seen or proven to be capable of even mounting the necessary rails for usage of a R-73, let alone using the missile itself.

The picture could be a KH-29T

Found it (and a special thanks to General Lee for clearing this up and finding the source video way back when for me)

Kh-31 it seems

I know this is off topic from the f90 but apparently Ukrainian mig29 has been retrofitted to be able to fire AGM 88 HARM which would be really funny to see mig 29 with if they add anti-radiation missiles

You don’t need to drop a million chaff to break the Fakour’s lock, though. It (alongside the AIM-54) is the easiest ARH missile to defeat.

The only slight thing i’ve noticed with the F-90s which doesnt make any sense to me, is that they dont always appear on RWR. I’ve had it before, in aircraft with really really good RWRs, where i’ve only gotten the warning a second or 2 before impact. Aim-54, detect them from miles out, AMRAAM, miles out. F-90… just feels a little hit and miss whether or not I get an RWR warning in good time.

So I do almost wonder whether a bug report is needed there, but would need the proper testing first.

Everyone saying to just notch, but forgets some RWR can’t detect it at all, and Russian jets in general have trash tier RWR that doesn’t give precise bearing of multiple approaching missiles

I don’t have the datamine missile spreadsheets on hand, but do you know if they detail the missile seeker lock ranges?

I think it does:

but it looks the same as everything else

Assuming its “baseline lock range from all-aspect: [km]”

Every missile has 16km, which sounds about right.

Which is why im a little confused by why the RWR feels inconsistant at times.

Yeah that’s the stat, I’ve also felt like it appears on RWR too late. I used to chalk it up to “oh the missiles just going that fast” but sometimes it doesn’t feel like it should be, regardless of distance and altitude.
