Please do something about the F-4 ADTW — it’s in a terrible state. Forget being a premium aircraft; in its current condition, it doesn’t even deserve to be in the regular tech tree. It only has bombs. air-to-air missiles to speak of the radar isn’t even worth mentioning.

isnt the radar the same as the f4e?
because if so its pretty good for the br, and even sometimes gets crazy look down locks
Lol the F4 ADTW is an amazing, great aircraft.
it’s at the same BR than F-4EJ (11.0) - no reason to change it up,… it have been there for years, and is balanced at 11.0.
if you can’t handle F-4 phantom gameplay, it’s a “you problem” as “a pilot”.
the only one thing that should be worked on, is the F-4EJ kai sitting same BR than F/A-18A (12.3), or F-16A Blk10 - which are both better in EVERY SINGLE ASPECT
Is it good? How is it? Can you tell me, my friend?
Sale season so it gonna be food for 12.0 prem, nothing strange to see here.
It has good speed and acceleration, a very good payload, and good missiles if you know how to use them, especially the radar missiles. Regarding maneuverability, I recommend staying away from MiG-21s and especially F-5s. Try to kill them using your radar missiles if they are flying at a sufficiently high altitude for the radar to lock onto them. Don’t try to use your radar missiles with the radar pointed at the ground because it’s not pulse-Doppler, meaning it won’t lock onto them. At the beginning of the match, climb to 5,000 meters and try to get 1 or 2 kills from players flying high. If they don’t drop chaff, fire the AIM-7 missiles above Mach 1 at up to 6, 7, or 8 km/h, depending on the player’s speed, altitude, and your own speed. If you’re up against a top-tier, try to play more passively and don’t go BVR against the MiG-23; it will overwhelm you because it’s much better.
And I almost forgot, if when you launch the AIM-7 and your enemy releases chaff and your radar locks onto the chaff, don’t worry because the missile will continue tracking the target.
But it’s a good plane in the right hands, and don’t listen to those people on the forum saying the MiG-23 ruins everything; most of them don’t even know how to counter the MiG-23 and try to counter it with a worse plane.
my stats with F4 adtw
a bit of a correction - it will track as long as your target remains in your radar’s illumination cone
also if the closure rate is high enough the radar can filter out chaff somewhat
thanks for the correction
Has the same radar. yes.
The bad part is
1- Has worse missiles. AIM-7E instead of AIM-7E-2(DF)
2- Has awful japanese domestic RWR compared to the comfortable F-4E/Kurnass’s one.
3- IF you really want to go base bombing, you can’t use napalm, which F-4E/Kurnass Can.
Maybe it is the reason why F-4EJ and EJ ADTW remain lower BR (11.0) than Regular F-4E/Kurnass (11.3)
I know that
just dont know why he said the radar isnt worth mentioning because its pretty good for the br
The only thing F-4EJs suffer from is MiG-23ML that just outdo you in literally every metric, and beating that thing is extremely hard unless it has already fired its R-24Rs (even though MiG-23ML is also a very potent dogfighter if the pilot has an IQ greater than 1 (very rare occasion)).
It is hard to use AIM-7E as it doesn’t pull and track at 100% rate right off the rail (AFAIK it pulls like 40% of Gs only after 2 seconds of flight, or a few hundred meters from launch point), but I’d believe it is the best SARH missile you get equal and below 11.0.
I’d advise to never use default radar mode, and instead use the “thight” 19(?) km search mode. “Wide” mode is terrible as scan rate sucks and and most of the time the lock will just drop from the target by itself, not even speaking of extreme notching and chaffing.
Practically you would never use EJ above sea level if there is at least one MiG-23ML in the lobby. But at 10.0-11.3 you simply turn off your radar (to not spoil your position), climb to like 4-5 km, and turn on radar to lock on target only once it is in 11-12 km range. Min. launch range would be 4 km, with maximum 10 kms, as it is still a rather early Sparrow. Never shut off or un-lock radar even if the lock has dropped and missile is still online, simply try to face radar as much as possible towards the enemy and the missile will practically always ignore chaff in whatever quantity it is launched. Shooting targets below 6 kms requires pre-leading as the missiles doesn’t pull much off the rail. You can also do funnies if your enemy is in 1-1.5km range, goes supersonic, and is hugging the ground. If you are close enough, even the non-PD radar can still lock on the plane from rear aspect at about sea level, and it’s extremely satisfying taking down them Tornado base bombers shitting chaff like madmen while doing 0 maneuvers and catching chad SARH CW missile.
Overall, it is not a bad plane, it is just the competition at 11.7-12.0 is busted when it comes to planes like this. But oh boy does it feast when it faces braindead J-7D players, going for stratosphere, barely knowing they ain’t facing just some crappy F-4C.
Maybe Pulse-only radar is more uncomfortable than PD radars(From both F-4J or later jets, such as Tornado F.3 and F-16A)
It is pretty good for the BR
But maybe he might need some time to get used to it.
NGL, Ground clutter is an annoying thing when someone faces it for the first time.
I’ll correct it with your permission. This is a C phantom, but with an E radar and some E electronics.
But AFAIK, weren’t F-4EJ the Japanese domestic licensed version of F-4E?
So I think that is E phantom.
No, the glider itself is from the C version of the Phantom, the stuffing is from the E version. You can compare the gliders in the game, and pay attention to the wing mechanization. The engines are also from the E version
AFAIK, it is because the F-4EJ didn’t get the Agile Eagle upgrade.
The F-4EJ is simply an F-4E. It is just a different version of an F-4E. It has no relation to F-4C.
Yes, that’s why the glider is closer to the C version than to the E. Under equal conditions in a one-on-one fight, the American will emerge victorious from the dogfight.
