They should use sparrows with f16aj radar for a while.
The peak of WTF gaming
Yea the Sparrows are horrible past 12.0
Ah yes a bunch of dumb bombs (which you have to sacrifice 4 of the 12 A2A missiles for) or 3 LGBs/GNSS bombs at the cost of 4 A2A missiles.
Such good multirole loadouts. The former is just a zomber loadout and the latter is just a “I’m a free kill in GRB” loadout.
No, even though neither of them can BVR effectively at top tier, the Gripen’s FM is good enough to play defensively when needed. More accurately, the Gripen can BVR, and the price you pay for making a mistake is much lower than F15C GE.
Gaijin knows full well that slapping an AESA radar onto an outdated airframe doesn’t magically make it competitive, but I still don’t understand why the F-15C GE, F/A-18E, and J-10C are sitting at 14.3. Maybe they just want players to ‘get the hint’ that it’s time to spend money to grind another tech tree — and conveniently, they’ve just released a new premium vehicle.
Based take
This is useless because all ARH missiles in the game are one-way datalink missiles only. Meaning, they only provide mid-course updates before (and slightly after a lock is lost as long as it’s close enough) it goes pitbull. The only missiles in the world (to my knowledge) that are two-way are AIM-120D (C-8 for Sweden/Germany), Meteor, R-37 and PL-15. Two-way datalink is essentially your ARH becoming TWS-guided SARH because DL updates do not stop even after the seeker goes active.
good point
i think the modern standard missiles (and by extension AIM-174B) have 2 way DL too
AIM-174B with two-way datalink is a given, as the OG version of the missile has it anyway for surface-to-air interception. The other missiles of similar class to the others I’m not sure if they do but the assumption is that they do as well. Kind of have to, if it’s made to travel further than 120 KM at which point guidance gets handed off to AWACS or other aircraft with more capable radar.
Was typing up an entire essay, then I realized that this was from late 2024 and yeah I would agree some of the criticism towards US only players. A lot has changed since then and the majority of criticism now is definitely warranted.
