Competitive? It’s an identical copy-paste airframe of the F-14B stuck at 13.0 with the exact same weight, thrust, and heavy, easily notched Phoenix missiles. Paying $80 for a slightly better radar, an IRST, and no active radar Fox-3 missiles is the exact opposite of meta. You’re a massive flying barn on every radar screen getting sucked into 13.7 uptiers to get farmed by actual meta jets. It’s overpriced copyslop, stop defending a cash grab.

The F-14B/D are as good dogfighters as the Flankers, with a similar TWDR [Thrust-to-weight-to-drag ratio].
If you think one is “great” and one isn’t, that’s a contradiction in your mind.

Saying the Tomcat has a similar TWDR to a Flanker ignores how thrust vectoring and high-off-boresight missiles work in War Thunder. An Su-30 doesn’t need to play a clean rate fight with you—it has thrust vector control to snap its nose instantly at low speeds and an HMS paired with R-73s. The F-14D has to point its entire heavy nose directly at the target just to lock a basic AIM-9L that will get spoofed by a single flare. They are not in the same league.

You mean that thing that reduces sustained turn rate & has marginal impact on instantaneous due to G-limits… on top of being 14.7 & not 13.0.
The vast majority of Flankers don’t have thrust-vectoring, & the best Flankers in flight performance are Su-27SM, J-11B, & J-15T.
AIM-9Ms aren’t AIM-9Ls, & both see after-burning engines quite easily.
I don’t know why you seem to hate F-14s so much, but I hope your shilling of Sukhoi is worth it to you.

@Beeschurger @AlvisWisla payed 7000??? dollars of premium vehicles for gaijin and use the “bad” vehicles that they think the f14D beats such as the 13.0 AIM120 planes that they call have bad flight models and the su30MMK even tho those are SOOO “bad” with flight models and the f14D is just what they want to farm at 13.0 NOW I understand they are low skill and buy there way into the meta because they are slow

I have a lengthy F-14B record, & that includes after it was compressed into 13.0 without AIM-9Ms.
I like it over Su-27/J-11, which is why I’ve only ever spaded the J-11, & haven’t touched the standard Su-27.
Claiming that we’re not skilled when both of us are, & the only time I’ve “meta hunted” was F-18A & MD326K so they’d be moved up in BR.
Cause that’s really it, my only goal in War Thunder is to have fun, & push for balanced BRs.

Dude, look at the calendar, it’s not 2021 anymore. The F-14 is quite terrible. The only thing keeping it relevant is some knockoff of Iron Eagle (the superior movie) and nostalgia bait. The F-14 has not been competitive, sorry, the tech tree variants have not been competitive for quite some time now. The Iranian one is one of the plagues of Egypt.
