F14B Should get the AIM 9M Now?

I have seen threads and posts calling for both to be added. Mostly aim120. You can say that you are not, that is okay.

Yes, gaijin making decent radar would be really nice to have. Wish they would focus on the small things rather than making a whole new rank with like 4 vehicles in it

AIM-120 is both too much and basically the best R-27ER counter we could get right now.

It’s still much slower and can be defeated at range by R-27ER in a BVR joust. Yet against anything lesser than R-27ER it’s far too strong.

I would like to see Phoenix missiles be corrected to full capability (instead of the joke missiles we have right now) as a test for higher performance ARH before the inevitable upgrade to AIM-120 and the like.

yeah, it just tested it, so would be a good event vehicle

A-10C-II with AIM-9Ms when?

Agree with that. But I suggest just: f14a, f14B (+aim9m and fix the 54c), f14D

From Major Update “Alpha Strike” in dev server F-14B received 2 external fuel tanks 280 gal but not see AIM-9M

I hopefully gajin implemented add AIM-9M on F-14B and increase BR to 12.3 in major update “Alpha Strike”

I really don’t think the US line up needs anymore buffs.

The aim-9L is still a excellent missile.

TBH, I would like to see F-14A gets AIM-9Ms and AIM-54A Mk.60s as “late model” as well.

12.0 gets a lot of downtiers, and it still stomps 11.0s. 12.3 would make it horrible

See page i-5, and Table i-3 on page i-10 "AIM-9 Capable Simulators. “The AIM-9M can be employed on several Navy and Marine Corps tactical aircraft. The AIM-9M has been integrated on F-14…”. !!! It would be justified at 12.3 or 12.7

12.0 does get significantly more downtiers than 12.3 and the F-14B airframe just isn’t 12.3 material, meaning that it wouldn’t benefit from the Aim-9M if it was moved up .3 BR as a result. You know if it got Aim-9Ms it would just be an F-15 with worse performance, right? Why would I need Aim-9Ms when 5 sparrows and 3 9Ls is perfectly adequate against 11.0 and 11.3 planes?

Aim-9Ls are also nowhere near as bad as people here are making them out to be. Give the 9L a rear-aspect shot and an afterburner to chase and it will often go straight through flares.

It’s a well guarded secret, but the 9H’s radar slaving allows some all aspect operability at very close ranges. Great to use with the F-4S and F14A.

They often do not add all missiles to an aircraft for balance reasons. Just because it could/did does not mean that it will have it in game.

It would be balanced if it moved up in BR to 12.3 or 12.7 that IS balanced. It would have the same missiles as F-15A, worse radar, and worse flight model.

And many of us, including gaijin, would rather it stay where it is br-wise. It is a nice upgrade for only a one step increase in br.

why do you say “many of us, including gaijin, would rather it stay where it is br-wise”? That’s just not true. Anyway it would be balanced at 12.7. What is “one step increase in br”? do you mean 0.3?

Yes. 11.7-12.0 is one step.

If gaijin wanted it to be a higher br, they would have given it aim9m. It is also safe to say that many would rather it stay where it is but with fixing the issues with the aim54s

The F-14B is 12.0 so then a one step increase in br would be 12.3, but I suggested 12.7. The Phoenix is easy to notch and chaff. I think fixing the AIM-54’s was long overdue and mostly ignored by gaijin.

I was saying that the f14b is a nice upgrade over the f14a which is only one br step away

Actually, the AIM-9M wasn’t in War Thunder yet when the F-14B was released. It wasn’t even in WT when the F-16C dropped, it had 9L’s. It was added to the F-16C after the Mig-29SMTs got R-73’s iirc.
Therefore, since the F-16C added the 9M’s, it’s fair for the F-14B to recieve 9M’s and move up as well.
