The fact that Gaijin is still shoving premiums at lower BRs with better radars and radar missiles—like the F/A-18C Early—and still not giving the F-14B a proper radar or even the AIM-9M at its BR because of one of the worst Fox-3s in the game is insane. It regularly fights aircraft with much better Fox-3s in air matches.
The APG-65 is miles better than the F-14B’s AWG-9 in-game at guiding Sparrows. It’s actually insane that it’s still at this BR and we haven’t gotten anything but one or two buffs—and a boatload of nerfs.
The F/A-18C’s data link AIM-7P blows the F-14B’s AIM-7M Sparrow out of the water. At this point, honestly, the F-14B could be 14.0 like the Rafale, and Gaijin would say it’s fair and balanced because it has an AIM-54.
Oh wait—they did.
Not to mention both Russian 13.0 Flankers blow it out of the water in BVR with the R-27ER, which is one of the most powerful missiles in the game. It ruined the entire matchmaking when it was added back in the day, making BVR basically a Russian-only thing.
So tell me—when is the most mediocre 13.0 finally going to get a buff? Mind you, the F-15A and F/A-18C both outperform it at the same BR.

If you want it to be moved up in BR then yeah, give it buffs. But at its current BR it’s fine

why would it be moved up in br if there are still better planes then it at same br i could list quite a few planes that perform miles better then it at 13.0 its madness

i mean AOA switch it still has yet to recieve that it had IRL with documents saying it had it dont matter cause gaijin cant model it even tho all AOA limit does in this game is turn the instructor limits off

As long as it is 100% historical, I am fine to see those beauties get better treatment.

The easiest solution will be just removing the phoenix because it is why it can’t be balanced properly

Removing AIM-54 from the F-14 series is just… removing the biggest feature, which is iconic. Isn’t it?

The F-14B couldn’t use the Aim-120 due to a whole variety of reasons.

Oh okay. I remembered reading that the F-14 did test the 120, but I didnt know which version could and which couldnt.

Because it’s currently fine where it is, it performances fine, and doesn’t need a buff.
Buffing it with better weapons is going to cause it to move up in BR.
but its not ?? compared to lets say a SU33 or a SU27 or even F15A its massively worse mind you there same br and a lot better worse the F14 has infinitely worse radar and Aim 9Ls which are on planes as low 12.3
literally zero reason to play it is not even a valid side grade to the F15A
just play the F15A at that point
like the radar is so bad on the F14B the MIG-23ML has a better radar
the 12.0 F4J has better radar too and the F14 has same KIT as a 12.3 F18a

To be fair, the radars on the su series at 13.0 are actually worse than the f14’s.
At least the search modes are. The f14’s radar is still lacking though.
Personally I hope the f14A gets aim9L and f14B should get aim9m and a tcs and aim54 rework I also do think the f14D should get aim7p and aim9m and possibly a reduced capacity aim9x (when other jets get them/equivalent) as well as aim120A/B and hopefully the dual missile rack at a properly br bracket

holds lock way better on su27 plus if you do loose lock it can magic relock cause data link
Its better in keeping a lock but getting said lock is way worse.
When i play them, i only use the HMD since the regular search has awful refresh rates and will just miss planes more often.
Not everything is a 1 to 1.
If you buff the jets it’s going to duck on anything below 12.7.
Just look at the ICE, low CMs, low fuel, a 10.3 flight model…but you give it some all aspects(which are slightly worst then the 9M) and AMRAAMs and now it fights jets that can sling double the amount of AMRAAMs with more CMs.
Hell, the F-16 ADF sits at 13.3 with 6 AMRAAMs and only AIM-9Ls
Also, the ML’s radar is pretty bad.
F4F ice is a 11.3 airframe and its one of the top 13.0s due to getting AIM-9LIs and AIM120as with a killer radar it also has 90CM which is enough for the BR range now that the rafale and stuff are higher so yyour mostly facing things like F15C which you can just multipath or notch your choosing but most of the matches will be 13.0 or lower with some 14.0 sprinkled in and honestly i loved the F4F ice its one of my comfort planes
all in all i like it more than the F14 i have both and i prefer the ICE only advantange the F14 has is its FM the ICE has better avionics and weapons oh and the 9LI can be a baited as a sparrow or something since it has a burner and it does trick people also it has a 9M seeker on a 9L body
and if giving the F14B a few historical buffs like the 9M would make it op justify the

these are all fighters with Better flight models, similar or better radars most carry same missiles or better
and for the MLs radar i have the Mig 23MLA and it holds a better lock then the F14S does most of the time honestly
btw the AIM-54C/A is no excuse for not getting Aim 9M the AIM 54 is a completely garbage fox-3 no acceleration no sub 20G pull it is less usefull then a AIM-7M honestly no one runs a aim54s unless your a F14 IRAIF with the OP fakour 90s which are just insanely fast
Aim 54s are so easy to dodge you can multipath or notch if you cant dodge it just learn its harder to doge a sparrow than the aim 54
