Exactly Aim120s like Aim54s have to be answered.
You cant ignore them and to defeat them you have to notch and chaff. Sacrificing position.
I have launched 3 Skyflash at an F-14 in BVR to kill him knowing full well my missile hasnt the legs but it pings their RWR and forces them to react. As they go to defend you get closer.
You really don’t have to give up position. If you’re talking about notching, then yeah sure but you don’t have to notch. People just do it because they don’t know other ways of defeating missiles. I’ve been on both ends, I own the F-14A/B and played a shit ton of battles with it as with aircraft that are supposed to be victims of it like F1C, ML, and F-4J. You barely have to respect the Phoenix.
They are not even similar in effectiveness.
You don’t have to notch or scatter when trying to defeat Phoenixes. The AMRAAM is much more deadly because it doesn’t telegraph its positioning for 26 seconds, its also way lighter meaning it doesn’t lose a lot of speed when doing turns, and it accelerates much faster.
You do if yoi are at equal altitudes, if you ignore the Aim54 and try some chaff it will slam you in the face.
If you are on the deck its easier to dodge.
Not really an Aim120 launched at 40-50km is as effective as an Aim54 launched from those ranges.
It’s easily defeated, and has the same disruptive qualities.
The Phoenix also loses a shit ton of speed when it turns, you can just do cranks and defeat it. Its much harder to do the same against an AMRAAM because it doesn’t lose a lot of speed compared to the Phoenix.
I think the most important thing here it’s not about the missiles, it’s about not having a counter-part on other nations to match the F-14, if you got up-tiered with a MiG-21 or a J-7E, even with maneuvers properly, you still are in high disadvantage.
So I agree that you can learn how to dodge the missiles, but the fact it’s that the F-14 reigns as sovereign under BR 12.0, the true definition of Air Superiority.
I usually play on BR 11.7 and it’s really common to get 4 or 5 F-14 on the other team and it’s simple a slaughtering match while we have a bunch of MiG’s, Mirages and lower BR Aircrafts.
So, In my opinion it’s about adjust the Battle Rating or add counterparts for another nations. Without it’s like just US players having fun while all another got frustrated.
The result is noticeable when you got a 16x16 match and 10 players are using US aircrafts.

Aim7 can hit a target at 30km. IF launched at high altitude above mach 1 on someone not trying to dodge at all. Their actual effective range is about 15-20km. It’s still double than most other SARH like the R530D.

When a F14A has bad low speed energy retention, like as soon as you get to like 400mph or so you kinda just sit in the air and takes forever to get it back(not even to mention the fuel consumption), very mid RWR, very mid IR missiles, its only hallmark are just Phoenixes and decent Radar missiles that say other missiles like the F-4EJ Kai, F-4S, F4-J.
and with two of those examples they are 12.0 and the reasoning is that it has slightly better avionics and flight performance than the ““heavier”” (although the F14 is a giant 34T minimum mass brick and only is good for like the single vertical turn you take to turn back on some dude close range)

if you are playing Radar missile trucks at 12.0 to just missile joust I feel like you are missing the point of it. like alot of F14 players only know how to drop their 4 phoenixes, and get kills because some dude tabbed out base bombing gets killed. If you are actually paying attention to your RWR the long dial tone telling you “oh shit you are locked from the pitbull phoenix” its literally a skill check and anyone saying it is any different can’t out G a lofting brick.
Woah what do you mean! I love seeing 14 F14s, Harriers with 120s and other Planes in my JX35S it makes it such a fun experience to die 30 seconds into a match without RWR and watching a missile miss me hugging the ground at 30m and it still blowing off a wing.

that is a full uptier; you can’t see more than 4 F14s, and that is typically a rare occurence; you also are trying to gaslight by saying you are seeing 120 Sea Harriers and AV-8B+ when you actually dont. You are using a premium vehicle that sadly is like some lower tier BR F4s such as the C and E variants…power creep and more indicative of Gaijin allows compression to still affect this game, but the idea that the F14 is suddenly TOO OP AND YOU CAN’T SIMPLY WIN is a lie.
If im a F14A player; with what people are trying to say add; they want you to see F16Cs, F15Cs, deal with alot of aircrafts at the same BR with better radar, RWR, and SARH missiles let alone full uptier seeing tons more Fox 3s all the time(they say it should be 12.7)
For a Phoenix, something that has been in the game for a while, that is slow top speed, slow off the rail slow acceleration, low G maneuverability, tracking is worse than it has been and simply defeated by notching away from the battlefield for all of 5 seconds.
12.3 the a good seat that it should be at because typically it can go either way and aside from a gimmick, faces the same missiles it fires at respect aircraft, the 7Fs.
at 12.3? lemme know what aircraft 12.0+ that don’t have RWR, you will have a tough time doing this. if this is in relation to your J35XS, a 11.3 aircraft, then I simply don’t know what to tell you, you see some aircrafts at your BR that don’t even get countermeasures? Does that mean we should move every aircraft away from them? Because that would mean by the time I get it sorted I get the Japanese F-1 with 9Js(AIM 9Ps are just export 9Js that work slightly differently) at a BR completely on its own because it doesn’t have countermeasures.
