F14 It's too strong for the current BR(12.3-12.7)

This is what I’ve been saying since the article that announced the recent decompression.

@七-十三 I was arguing for decompression in every single post on the matchmaker topic as decompression is faster, which has been proven correct since we’re now at 1 BR of decompression since the start of that topic.

I’ll keep demanding decompression no matter how much hate your posts throw.

Oh, and I’ve been saying put P51H5NA to 6.7 - 7.0, and F-15A up by 0.3 BRs for the last year and change; my stance has not changed on those aircraft.

BR has been Decompressed but almost nothing changed.
Still F-14A dooms F-4E and vice versa.
oh. even worse on some case like F-16ADF and JAS39A case or F8U-2 case.

Well, I am saying again, you really need to choose word wisely unless you are just troll who loves rage and seethe.

All you were saying in this topic just sounded like [F-14 are fine. and AIM-54 are fine too. we don’t need decompression. cuz I am skilled enough for evade AIM-54 with Mirage IIIC while dumb noobs like you can’t. lol]

I consider the Mirage-2000C the best plane in this BR, a great radar, a great RWR, it has great acceleration, good fuel consumption, it turns as if it were possessed by the devil, it can outrun almost all planes in the same BR, unfortunately the R530D are average to mediocre, but they are lethal if you know how to use them, it has one of the best IR missiles in the game. It was before decompression and it still is.

And speaking as an average player who doesn’t have the F-14.

If there’s one plane that doesn’t worry me, it’s this one, maybe because my play style is compatible with one of the ways to get rid of the biggest threat it poses in the game, the AIM-54. I only die to the AIM-54 when I’m on my phone or doing something that takes my attention away, and that’s my fault. Other than that, I don’t have any difficulty fighting it.

The F-14A is far from being the dominant plane in the BR you mentioned. Even if it were in almost every match, both teams have them flying on their side. Which balances the teams, since Gaijin never added the MiG-25 or the MiG-31, shame on you GJ. The only “advantage” it has is the Phoenix, which, honestly, isn’t good. The rest of the missiles are average.

If there is a disadvantage in, for example, a Mirage-F1 facing an F-14A, this disadvantage is, from my own experience, much smaller than a Su-27/MiG-29G/SMT (which dominated the “BVR” combat until the last update) facing an aircraft with ARH, even the worst ARH like DERBY and A-Darter. The F-14 would be just a sitting duck if it were to face M-2000/F-16/JAS-39/F-15 any of them.

I don’t even worry about NOTCH or anything, I just fly fast and low and with the missile about 2 km away I make one or two turns and goodbye missile, I do this while looking for prey flying low. And after crossing the “enemy base” just climb fast and still find one or two F-14s (sitting duck) focused on using the phoenixes on some target of opportunity.

Here’s the thing, before the changes F-14B was in F-4E’s BR range.
Now it’s just the F-14A which isn’t anywhere nearly as much of a threat against an F-4E with its digital RWR, compared to F-14B’s further capabilities over A.
However, to things like F-104S ASA and J35XS… bit harder.

well still, I am sticking with my original stance, as long as F-14A/B faces planes with analogue-ish RWR, and clubbing them with whichever weaponry they want to.
F-4EJ(Norm/ADTW), inferior F-4E with inferior missiles and RWR can be examples maybe?

Erm, half-jokingly, for F-4EJ which gets killed by AIM-54… for them, both AIM-54A/C are bullshit missiles and both F-14A/B will be annoying.

  1. F-14A and F-14B should go higher with BR decompressing. it needs to see less inferior jets which are nearly irresistible against them.
    Even if AIM-54 are a skill check missile, there are jets which are harder to evade than rests and seem to still have some advantage in the current meta.
  2. if Gaijin isn’t planning to BR decompress sooner. then we need to discuss about plan B.
    2.1. nerfing it with a single step(+0.3~0.4BR) and watching the further statistics.
    2.2. or giving better missiles as compensation and sending them to 13.0+
    2.3. or removing AIM-54 for balancing issue (Smin told us that Missile can be a balancing factor. I don’t know what exactly the topic was, cuz I saw that quote as a GIF long ago. might not happen because of Ali-cat.)

remember that even in 13.0 tomcat missile and CM load is still excessive. F-16 got nothing to compete with it, 2 sparrow and 4 shitty 9L and dogshit CM count of the F-16 against 200something and 8 missiles really trivializes every uptier the tomcat faces.

No. they’re pretty strong at 13.3 and 13.7. the missile count is enough to match F-15 and Su-27 alone. they don’t need more handholding, their FM is not like tornado to make them deserving of 13.0 - 13.3, they can dance around everyone in 13.3 above range with proper wing angle usage.

Plus 640 CM is plenty. they can pop CM in serial mode to not get locked by IR. this is not a situation where they have one or two overpowered thing that warrant BR raise. their entire existence is the concept of “UnderBR-d”.

F-16 literally has a UFO FM like the Gripen but a tiny bit worse and it has once of the best all aspect PDs in the game making it difficult to notch.

To reiterate a bit

I think most will agree the aim54 is easy to dodge if you have a bit a game knowledge and start adapting. Thats not really an issue or up for debate really.

The frustration comes from the fact that “dodge” in this case might sound “easy” as in its just a quick manauever. However what dodge means in this case actually is that you are spending a considerable amount of time early game doing BVR tactics in a plane that simply cannot BVR, or cannot hope to BVR against aim54 with their SARH.

We are being forced to play in a manner where we can only defend and have absolutely no options for offense in that time. While the singular plane causes this mess can.

Thats the problem.

I get exceptional players can still do well against this, but for the average player its very frustrating.

Even if everyone did dodge them all the time, they would be at a massive disadvantage compared to the other team because they had to fly defensively. The F-14s team can go on the offensive 100% of the time, while half of the other team needs to fly defensively.

F14 still have to fly defensive because america is so overpopulated that they have to be on both sides.

Difference is they can be on offense and defense at the same time.

Imagine calling F-14B’s IR missiles “bad”

And EJ Kai shouldn’t be brought to 13.7 as your post implies.
In-fact, they use the argument that could have F-4C increase in BR “muh missile count”.

F-14s are not under-BR’d like the superior F-15A or the P51H5NA.
F-14 equivalents exist at 12.3 and 12.7 currently.
ALL 13.0+ aircraft in the game are vastly superior to them.

Guys, stop thinking that flying defensive means running away. It doesn’t.
I’ve been flying defensive for 4+ years, and have gone away from the enemy less than 5% of the time

Not really. There are different strategies to countering the Phoenix spam while staying offensive.

For the MiG-23ML for example I like to zoom climb to 5km and get as fast as M1.7 kind of going around the map so that Phoenixes can’t catch me and all I need to do is fire an R-24T at an unsuspecting F-14 player. The entire time I’m offensive on a MiG-23ML against an F-14, I just make slight course adjustments that don’t put me at a disadvantage. Sometimes I use the R-24R instead and just fire towards an F-14 that didn’t expect me to get so close so fast.

For the F-4J I just climb to 3km, if I notice that I’ve been fired upon I don’t take drastic measures like immediately notching, I simply do F-pole maneuver while I wait til’ someone is within range for my 7F. If I really wanted to be EXTRA aggressive as in just full afterburning to the middle of the map I just do an aggressive F-pole maneuver.

For planes like the Mirage F1C there really isn’t any benefit in rushing in, it doesn’t have radar missiles and the Magic 2s work best side aspect so I just go around the map.

I’m not an exceptional player either. I’d classify myself as average or just above average.

the UFO got nothing to defend itself after notching 3 Phoenixes and got a sparrow launched at them. you’re basing the entire fight around the fact that F-16 can turn well. we’re not flying Spitfire anymore boy.

It is bad. have you not shoot 9L? one pop of flare kills it.

and if anyone braindead enough to bring EJ Kai to this discussion, it’s you. nobody talks about EJ Kai because it’s not as problematic as tomcat. stupid.

If I can dodge 3 Phoenixes as a level 6 crew Mirage F1C then the F-16A can dodge multiple Phoenixes with ease.

I don’t use countermeasures against Phoenixes.
