strella has photo contrast mode too not just IR
plus the rapier exist
Sure, if the GBUs are replaced with unguided bombs
In fairness, Heat signatures are not modeled well at all. the F-5 on full AB is actually a colder target than the F-117 at the moment :D
It does get a reduced IR signature… but its just a bodge that only works in some contexts
And its somehow even colder than g91y that uses same engine.
God, Gaijin really need to overhaul the heat signature (or more accurately, actually add them) before we even think about adding “IIR” missiles :D
Doesn’t mean anything with strela due to contrast lock
What 8.0 spaa has those?
First: strella is 10.3
Second: Explain how the strella is hitting you 6km out

Playing devils advocate for a moment, he might be referring to locking and firing at 6km, but by the time the missile impacts, it has only traveled 5km.
But my gut is telling me that math isnt mathing for something on the slower side like an F-117
If this is the case, then he is just tunnel visioned the whole time. He should be able to turn and easily stay out of its range.
Strellas are one of those spaa where i get happy to see in my f-117 and a6e because i know i can pick them off without even getting within their range.
Yep. Im the same in the Jaaaaaaag.
thats just a case of the statcard being wrong
the actual flight range limit is 10km

I dont know what its kinematic limit is but it is 100% over 5km
You need to climb sir, and you need to quickly open and close the doors or your cooked.
I would need to see a replay of it going anywhere near that distance.
I recall being able to fly just outside of 5km and watching their missiles explode in the air
These are the old multiplers from when it got added into the game:
and at some point RCS got changed to:

I do not remember the patches to check if IR got changed as well.
Anyhow, it does/did get a very low 0.0006 multiplier for frontal aspect, but we don’t really know if WT’s equation for heat is just “IR target heat = current engine thrust * F117/RAH66 multipliers”, it may interpolate values from front to side to rear, it may just change abruptly every 90 degrees, there may be other stuff (I mean, there probably is) in the code that we don’t have access to. It’s also very hard to test in practice.
Edit:
On F5s full AB & F117 thrust:
F5A - 1430kgf
F5C/E - 2220kgf
F117 - 4080 kgf
So if the multipler simply acts on that, trying to shoot a fleeing F117 would be similar-ish to the F5C/E, at 2040 kgf, from sides and front, though, quite different scenarios, 244.8 kgf and 2.448 kgf.
I dunno about how heat seekers work to tell if such coefficients should drastically drop target acquisition. I know for radars you need massive drops in RCS to meaningfully decrease detection distances (fourth root equation).
let it keep the jdams tho since they basically cant manouyver
i love the 117, just recently started getting familiar with its HUD but on the other note, off-topic: why can’t we have split throttle control axes? they’re adding new controls, just recently they added multiple function buttons (the long press and all that) and they are kinda working on sim (mfd modes), so why the F can’t we control both engines simultaneously and if you want to control an engine you have to turn the control on and off ffs
All i know is that front aspect f117 and attack drones have a large heat sig than any aspect helis.
yea. and clouds are client sided :/ so ur not even safe from ocelots when u think u are
