f105d going up against aim9ls and r60mks is geniunly a pain in the ass and makes the vehicle unplayable
its not meant to be at 10.0
Well it seems like the all-aspect slingers should go up and not the 105 going down, decompression is always the better option, unless somehow people think playing 7.0-7.7 is fun with the way it is when 15s and 86s dropped down because of the super sonic planes at 9.3 that used to be 9.7.
Don’t forget you can fire a missile at theirs when its a headon attack to decoy it. F105 has surprisingly good performance, but of course all aspect at a rating that low is still dumb
your best bet is flying high around 15-20k FT with a single chaff pod and napalm while maintaing speeds above mach 1.2 as you can out run most missiles at that speed
Compression. Next!
Wow, you said something that wasn’t unfunny or contrarian
Yep, don’t really see why vehicles like the MiG-21S which are only slightly slower but better at everything else can be 9.7 when they should be 10.3
All aspect slingers need to lose their bullshit missiles and go to a proper BR instead where their airframes aren’t insanely mismatched with their missiles (A-10 with 9Js, Su-25 with R-13M1 and R-60s). As fun as they are to play when they work well, they’re not fair missile wise despite having horrible airframes.
Why would the MiG-21S be 10.3
4 good radar missiles + decent J band radar (even if RWRs are commonplace at your BR, the lock can’t be detected in the first place) and it’s fast and turns well, as opposed to the F-4C which gets 4 okay radar missiles and 4 bad heatseekers on a bad I-band radar and no option for CMs unlike the MiG-21S, and is also slower and cannot turn for shit. I’d take the 21S over the 4C any day
Sorry for going out of context, but for the F-105D’s case it also has no option for flares (only heavy chaff pods in place of your only AA armament which also consists of 4 bad IR missiles) and it’s faster than the 21S, but that’s about it
They trade energy retention for their crazy instantaneous but have poor sustained. They have decent acceleration however. Their missiles are meh at best, with the R-3R being slightly annoying due to the fact Soviet radars tend to use J band, but then again just dont fly straight and level for ages when theres a MiG-21 in front of you, and be prepared for them to launch it at 1 KM in the head on
They’re not bad just really situational
Correct me if I’m wrong but the F-4C gets the 9E right? Which is better than the R-3S
MiG-21S does not get CMs
R-3R are not “good” they are AIM-9Bs with radar seekers. They work because people are dumb and don’t know what chaff is, or, if they don’t have chaff, don’t know to simply turn in any direction that isn’t upwards to dodge it kinetically.
MiG-21S radar is garbage as are all MiG-21 radars that aren’t the MiG-21Bison.
Yes… that is its main benefit.
F-4C will always be bad. This is not reason to uptier a relatively balanced aircraft like MiG-21S. Compare it to actual 10.0s+.
MiG-21S HAS NO COUNTERMEASURES. EVER. NO OPTION.
You are right about the energy bleed, however with that acceleration at 9.7 it wouldn’t be a huge issue as long as you don’t try to stallfight in it. The aircraft I am comparing it to right now, which are higher BRs on the other hand cannot turn (4C, 105D), cannot accelerate anywhere near as well (4C, 105D) and are slower (4C) with poorer armament (105D)
Probably went up against an SPS-K maybe? R-60s, R-13s and the option for flares?
Have you ever considered that 1. The F-105 is a bomber and not a fighter (and yet STILL can dogfight really well for being a bomber, and has a M61 vulcan) and that 2. The F-4C is and always will be garbage?
Taking flares in the SPS-K is trolling. Gun>>>>>>>Flares.
I mean it negates the 21s dogfighting capability if you can avoid its shots for like two turns, then its forced to extend away which you’ll most likely have more speed at that point and have a chance at catching up or launching a missile. And you’re comparing the 21s to aircraft with totally different roles.
Yeah but I still see a lot of people doing it (surprisingly). Keep people off your tail and you dont need flares. R-3S works amazingly as an anti-all aspect
You just suggested using 1 of your only 2 total missiles (with no gun) to flare a missile. Please get real.
I apologize on the CM part, you’re right, I mistook it for having the same capability as the SPS-K, which I believe is the same aircraft otherwise, no? But either way you can’t chaff R-3Rs if you don’t know they’re coming, which you don’t (J band) except in a dogfight (which they can’t be used in), and also not if you don’t* have chaff, which most aircraft in this BR bracket don’t. Plus yet again, the overall performance trumps any other 9.3 (MiG-19s and Super Sabres), 9.7 (Harriers and Hunters mostly + T-2) and some 10.0 (also Hunters, F-4C and probably F-1). I’d rather it be an above average-good 10.0 and slightly decompress the BRs than be an OP 9.7 fighting shit 9.7s and 10.0s (F-105D and F-4C and Hunters)
I wholly believe aircraft should be balanced based on ARB capability, not base bombing capability, meaning trashwagons like the B-66 shouldn’t be 9.0, below average aircraft like the Thunderchief and IL-28 shouldn’t be their BRs, and so on…
It being a bomber first fighter last by design doesn’t mean it should be a higher BR for reaching bases before anything else, that is a Gaijin issue not an F-105 issue
