F/A-18C Hornet Early is too suffering to play, why?
-not fair matchmaking, its BR are too high. why F/A-18 at 12.7? is it because of Aim-7P? huh
-Fox-1 is not meta anymore, Aim-7P is meh. Except for R27ER still the best Fox-1 missile.
-fox-3 missile are too overwhelming when uptiered, even in 13.3 still too much :(
-overshadowed by new premiums with Fox-3 (Su-30MKK & Su30MKV) why they still at 13.3? hello?
those are literally Su-27SM, but better
-constant uptier, 13.3 is too difficult tbh
+solution:
-new BR decompression so Fox-1 carrier aircraft can breath again. At least fun again
-reconsider to nerf BR of every aircraft with capability to bring Fox-3 missile.
*the only problem for 12.3 - especially 12.7 premium/non premium aircraft are; they may only encountered four 13.7 aircraft (which those aircraft are Fox-3 carrier obviously) but don’t forget if they are too many aircraft with Fox-3 missiles vs f/a-18C early with only Fox-1 missiles and non IRCCM missiles which made 12.7 gameplay is not playable anymore.
for example; when f-18c got uptiered. they will face F-14A, Kfir.C10, JA37DI F21, F4 KWS, F-16ADF, Su-30MKK, SU-30MKV, J-10A, Su-27SM, Su-34, J-11B. 8 of them are 13.3 aircrafts with fox-3 missiles.
Then what will happen to 12.7 aircraft in 13.7 matchmaking?
multipath are too difficult to defend against 6 Fox-3 missiles at once, not to mention only from 1 aircraft, and they said “just notch” yes, good luck.
BVR is doable, but illadvised against much superior aircraft with longer range missile. PL-12, R27ER, AIM-120B
duel against mentioned aircraft above is DOABLE, but need a lot of consideration when and how to engage.
skill ceiling is to high to survive in 13.7 matchmaking.
i knew if premium vehicle have more advantage than its tech tree counterpart. but 12.7 premium have been ignored lately.
ive paid it, and i deserved to enjoy it.
All planes will be more playable with some serious decompression; however i do think the 12.3 and 12.7 premium hornets fare better than most within the current BR constraints.
I also agree with moving most FOX-3 planes up considerably as there is some that if gaijin didnt have a “13.0 minimum” rule would be lower such as the FA2 harrier and AV8B+ as two easy examples, they are victims of extreme compression themselves and really could do with the 13.0-14.3 BR range being tripled in BR size.
the hornet is a great platform that responds well to whatever you try and do with it, only hinderance is not going over mach 1.1 on the deck. I know this was probably a fluke but i top fragged a 14.3 match in the CF-188 guns only after my squadmate chose the wrong plane and i had the wrong loadout preset, was honestly hilarious.
yes. the aim 7F paired with the pure unchaffable perfection of a radar the hornet has makes it impossible to escape unless youre multipathing. aim-7P makes the garanteed death range even further and harder to evade as its a much better missile, datalink is a very sweet cherry on top of that.
youre not seeing eurofighters or rafales so things are not that bad really. keep low and youre generally more than fine. multipath is a free win 90% of the time for defeating radar missiles.
I honestly think the 12.3 hornet should be moved to 12.7 as it performs so well and is just too easy to play.
Id also move the premium 12.7 hornets to 13.0, however give them AIM-9M while doing it.
ive got to be honest ive never had a fox 3 fired at me from an angle that defeats multipath. usually its just lucky hits from a BVR toss.
when a missile is shot at me i do change direction but notching doesnt really work against quite a few radars so i found it to be futile. Certainly never works against a hornet when i use them.
I find low altitude to be the advantage as nobodys missiles (until you get into range of russian/chinese IR missiles, aim 9m doesnt work lmao) can touch you at all and BVR is boring to me
I don’t recommend flying high with only FOX-1 missiles, they are best as a head-on missile joust weapon or to save a teammate from an enemy in a dogfight (as IR missiles cant be trusted)
