When I played the FGR.2 during the ML/MLD’s prenerf state, I was beating them in almost every scenario outside of instantaneous turn rate.

Sure. That did not come down to the planes themselves at all. I beat almost any matchup in an average engagement with an average air rb skill level just because I’m an experienced player. I can’t go around saying “I did X against Y jet in Z plane thats why its fair” and I think you can’t either for the same reasons more than likely.

This is just false. Pre-nerf MLD wiped the floor with any phantom in game, to a massive degree at that.

The FGR.2 is one of, if not the best phantom to dogfight with as it doesn’t have problems other phantoms have which is energy retention and thrust.

It’s the heaviest phantom in game by far with no slats or any other mechanism to help it out… speys don’t make up for this.

Dude, even the R-24R is better than the AIM-7 in almost every way—it has better dynamics and speed, ignores chaff less often, and actually has a decent guidance system

This makes no sense, hornet radar is miles better (automatically makes aim7 better by default. mig23 radar is garbage) and everything else you said is word slop with no meaning

Dogfighting takes more skill than flying in the stratosphere and spamming missiles.

Su-30 does not do this… at least when flown by someone with functional IQ. Su-30 is not a high flying bvr plane.

Kinda, sorta. R-77-1s are not that impressive, otherwise it’s an average skill jet. You can fly it straight with good missiles, but with a bit of skill, you can survive by doing funny tricks and take out unsuspecting targets with R-73s.

Most jets at top tier are average skill jets, with the only easier ones being something like Eurofighter if you want a general playstyle or something like F-15E if you want to BVR and do nothing else

Su-30 is not a high flying bvr plane

It actually is. not for nothing it has x12 Fox-3s and x2 IR missiles and one of the best radars of the game.
Obviously the EF-2000 has better radar, and F-15C MSIP II/E has better BVR complements, but Su-30SM has a lot of missiles (even better than their older counterparts) and one of the best avionics for dogfighting

It isn’t. It lacks speed and capability to generate it to do well. No, R-77-1s are not better than AIM-120s at high altitude. No, having more missiles does not automatically mean more success. If you aren’t fast at high alt you are dead at high alt.

average player will die instantly when they switch off the aoa switch, this is a high skill area not low skill

thrust vectoring is extremely useful when dogfighting at high altitude, cuz if u’re in an energy fight, u can turn even at absurdly low speeds

it is pretty unrelated to the toptier meta, having mach 1.5 at 8000m is much better than having more missiles, flying mach 1.1 at the same alt.

it isn’t, because air rb isnt a 1v1 game. You will die instantly in war thunder the moment you go slow at high altitude, period. IF you can get a 1v1, then you could utilize this.
