No problem mate but you still need to elaborate as to why speed isnt important.
cuz u don’t need to reach mach 2 to be an acceptable aircraft, dude.
if u have good radar, good missiles, good TWR and good maneuverability, u’re god in matches.
the hornet could be slow in speed, but has good TWR and good missiles (maybe not that good, but at least long-range missile) and its very good
did u saw any plane going mach +1.2?
like mach 1.75 or mach 2?
no, cuz if u go too fast, u’re a fucking brick and u can’t notch missiles or even turn
By that logic F-18C late/finish F-18C should be as dominant in matches as F-15E.
But from the graphs from statshark posted by someone earlier, its not.
Speed gives your missiles extra range and, well, speed, which is important for long range shots. Faster plane in defensive is also harder to intercept by missiles.
I regularly do when i feel like spamming amraams with EFT.
what about when an enemy launches a Fox-3 in front of u? going at that speeds means u can’t turn
and if u want to launch a missile to an enemy that isn’t straightly in front of u?
Never really had that issue with EFT.
Thats more matter of positioning than top speed. You can also always slow down enough to be able to perform the necessary turn while trying to keep as much speed as possible to give your missile initial boost.
All and all high top speed IS important in top tier for both long range shots AND defense, I managed to land a 60km R-27ER shot with MiG-29A on Tomcat on Afghanistan back in 23, something i wouldnt be able to do if my missile didnt have initial speed boost from my plane.
going more than mach 1.2/1.5 is completely stupid
As the meme goes “my brother in christ you control the gas pedal”
Going fast is advantegous in some scenarios.
And its always better to have plane that CAN go fast should the pilot want it to go fast.
Yeah, the F/A-18A should get AIM-120(A)s and be put at 13.7 or something. 12.7 ain’t just right for them.
USA should get like an american R-27ER like the iranian F-14A so they have something different than their AIM-7s
the F-18A has very good speed, 1800km/h isn’t that bad

I literally never reached past 1200km/h anywhere between 0 and 5000m on full afterburner.
ok?
damn, dude, u still being pathetic
So it definetively doesnt go 1800kmh as you say.
ok?
stills needing to go up to 12.7 or 13.0
