But seriously the AIM-120 was never used on the F-4S Phantom ii, only the AIM-9L or M could maybe be possible as an upgrade but why would you? AIM-7F and AIM-9H are already perfect enough.

Aim-9L… Maybe… Consider what it faces, but would probably push it up to 12.3 as its a decent dogfighter. Only if it actually used them though

Yes. And it used all the way up to AIM-9Ms. Much like the rest of western equipment, it’s armaments are being artificially restricted.

The latest missiles the last serving F-4S Phantoms equipped were the Aim-7M/P and Aim-9L/M. No USA serving phantom ever equipped any Aim-120 ever. Closest we got was when they attached an Aim-54A to a F-4B/J way back when:

Regardless whether or not it would be realistic, it would make no sense. The F4S couldn’t be in a better spot than it is right now, and giving it the F4 ICE treatment would make no one happy.
