A fully spaded F-4E is very competitive in either straight matches or slight downtiers, with a good player behind the stick. It’s my favorite aircraft in the game, other than the F-5E (FCU too). The 7E2s are cracked in ARB at ranges less than 2 miles. The 9Js leave a lot to be desired, but this could be remedied by 9Ls. Bascially, a 1980s version, with an improved Radar with CAA modes, TISEO for Radar slaving / aiming along with Pave Tack and actual GBU-15 capable cockpit (whilst limiting the user to carrying them / using them either as GBU-8+ without the datalink pod, or as WalleyeERDL with the centerline DL pod) would make it a very very nice aircraft at high 11s or maybe even low 12s. As long as you aren’t seeing constant uptiers to fox-3 territory, it should be fine. Especially for groundRB where it would probably be a very good all-around multirole, if we got 7F/M and 9L/P-3(4,5 etc).
So, it isn’t that the aircraft is poor performing (which it is, compared to something like the F-16A or other tech tree aircraft at 11.0-12.0), but rather it’s very situational, and requires a more hands-on approach than something with slightly more modern systems.
I really really want to see a late model E with a TGP in the US Tech Tree (even if it’s just a copy-pasted Kurnass with the Pave Spike), a new cockpit model like the one in DCS, TISEO (even if copy pasted from the F-14 TCS), and more radar goodies / modes.
My $0.02.
i mean, i’m fine with either of the pave way carrying phantoms being in the US tech tree, between the D,E, and G but the E is most likely the most well known of the pave way carrying bunch at least amoung the player base

So, Gaijin, when can we see this?
Either this, or an AUP or Terminator 2020 in the US tree

If April’s version of Nuclear Thunder taught me anything, it’s that the F-4E benefits GREATLY from AIM-9L inclusion. Add to that 7F for extended range, updated cockpit, and things like Pave Tack / Spike, LGBs, and correct loadouts (like the F-4E we have in DCS), and it’ll be worth adding.

Vehicle: F-4E (Late) US
Gamemode: Air Realistic
BR: 11.7
Reason for addition:
The F-4E in the US Air Tree at 11.3 is perfect. However. It currently lacks the correct cockpit for the types of weapons it can carry. It’s using the older style cockpit whilst carrying AGM-65s, GBU-8/15, and AGM-62. My suggestion is to add a late variant, using the correct cockpit (from the F-4F Late), and remove the GBU-15 from the F-4E Early.
Instead, take the Pave Spike and GBU-12 from the Kurnass 2000 and add them to the F-4E Early, and then give us the Pave Tack from the F-111 on the F-4E Late Centerline Pylon. With this, add BOLT-117, GBU-15, GBU-10, GBU-24, AGM-65D (Triple Rails) and G (single rails), AGM-45A/B Shrike, AIM-9L, AIM-7F, and AGM-62 Walleye II. This fills a desperately open niche between the F-4E Early and F-15A.

don’t forget the blu-177 750lbs laser guided bomb, if we are gonna have something with one of the first laser delegation pods we should at least give it the first LGB to enter service, but if we were to get this, we would be getting a kurnass 2000 that has sparrows and the spine refueling port, minus the countermeasures in the sparrow rack and remove the python 3s, for ARB 11.7, for GRB 12.0/12.3
