another image of the f4e aup carrying gbu paveways and AGM 65F mavericks and ofc its targeting pod (side note: 1 of the very few images out there of the front view of the aup 2000)
How confident are you this is a Greek F-4? I was previously unaware of the HAF operating AGM-65 variant beyond the 65B model.
What? They’re no way they only would’ve bought 65Bs
i think those would be Gs, as Fs are the navy’s version, either way, they seem to be training missiles, can’t say the same about the bombs though
heres 2 more images of the same aircraft
I just know they used 65Bs way back when and still technically have them listed on their official page as apart of their inventory, I didn’t think they acquired any other later on or anything. What’s not listed on their page is any other maverick variant, but the image below your comment I’m replying to shows it is indeed a HAF phantom, so I guess they must have gotten them at some point
It’s a long time since they have -G,

(Yes it’s a Greek missile don’t mind what it is saying, in the -B too they also haven’t remove the insignia of USAF)
Also it does list it in the equipment list
the nose cone color and bird shreader above the nose gives it away very easely since only greece ever modified there phantoms that way and the color of the nose is done on purpose so it can carry the new radar to guide the aim 120s. germany has a slight diff tone of color of the nose but that is also acceptable for guiding aim 120s
another rare image i found of the f4e aup 2000 visiting the netherlands in the 2000s somewhere with it standing inside a large hangar with infront of it a royal netherlands airforce f16AM
What br is it gonna be?
+1
All depends on what missile they will give it, if it’s the 4 AIM-120B and and 4 AIM-9M it will be the same br with the ICE (13.0) if they give it AIM-120C-5/7 for a Loadout of 4 AMRAAM and 4 AIM-9M I guess 13.3
English site didn’t have a dedicated link for it like that, just 65B, but I seemed to have missed that it was listed under equipment unless it was added since I last checked (or I just outright forgot for some reason, I do that sometimes lmao).
It should stay 13.0 then, unless they buff those missiles. Aim-120Cs preform so poorly in the Air RB meta compared to Aim-120Bs.
Yea in Greek it has for all the munitions
Greece had/has 9JULI ,9P-4/5 , 9L/LI and 9M all of them can be used from AUP.
F-4E AUP can carry only 120B. The radar is capable of 120Cs but they were never integrated. Also, to fire 120Cs it will need modifications to the fuselage missile recesses because they are modded for 120Bs.
The thing is some sources say it can use IRIS-T (technically it can 100%, just without the HMDS) , some other say it was planned but not integrated. And ofc you’ll never see it carry one because there is no practical reason…
Also, i wouldn’t want them on the plane in game because with GJs balancing and BRs BS they’ll make it unplayable.
I had that same question in mind aswell with the iris-T since the german f4f ice can and used the missile in service and the greek f4e aup is very much based off the ice but yea greece never ordered the pylons germany made for there f4f iris-T compatibillity
It doesn’t need special pylons. It has LAU-7 for Sidewinders , so it is compatible from the get go.
Now, the thing is we don’t exactly know if they have the software installed or they didn’t bothered.
It’s a similar case with F-14D and AMRAAM.
It has the capability in hardware , when software is installed.
And with a little search…
I think i found something that bothers us all in terms of “compatibility” in what weapons a plane can carry from software side…
MIL-STD-1760 protocol software is used in smart bombs such as GBU-31/32/38 JDAM, GBU-39/53 modern air to air missiles like AIM-120 AMRAAM, IRIS-T, AIM-9X Sidewinder , Meteor, Bozdoğan …
But still coding can be a problem more or less depending on the plane, if it’s not coded.
If the F-4E AUP isn’t coded, but has everything else, you can shoot it in boresight mode get the tone etc. , but no IFF and even if your radar locks and you have the interrogator , the missile doesn’t have a clue. And if there are more than one “targets” it may give you tone for the target it wants, not the target you want and you’ll know nothing…
In comparison , that was not the case with 14D/AMRAAM because in simple words the missile is not as much standalone as IRIS-T. It could use a 9X the same way as an un-coded F-4E can use IRIS-T , because of the missile features.
It’s a bit…complicated , but makes sense!!
What makes you say that? I believe the stations needed to mount AMRAAMs are identical in all cases, and the only exterior difference is that the fins are smaller on C+ models (something which wouldn’t inhibit this). Software compatibility should be all there is to it in terms of questioning compatibility.
I believe the sources which say otherwise to be correct. Regardless, burden of proof falls with you. I would love to be wrong about this, it’d be a nice missile to have, however this missile not having been known to be used by it means gaijin won’t give it this unless you can and do prove otherwise.
My mistake, the pylons fit. But it’s a similar case with F-14D . That i wanted to tell.
Software/Hardware compatibility is there. It lacks the “driver” , the coding…
Same with F-16C Block 30s let’s say… they can use 120A/B , they can’t use 120Cs for the same reason.
It’s not a difficult upgrade, they just didn’t do it.
In HAF site about the missile , it doesn’t state F-4E AUP as a user of IRIS-T. I’ll stay on this.
The other sites that imply it can are either from magazines, photobooks or promotional stuff.
I don’t really believe them.
Now all that for encyclopedic talking, in game if they give it those missiles (120Cs or IRIS-T) it will go in a BR that it won’t be good at all anyway… so no purpose.
In the cite it also says it can use all AMRAAMs in the Hellenic airforce weaponry,
They can fit the IRIS-T but they have never done it for obvious reasons, we still haven’t seen the F-16 Viper carrying them, I am pretty sure it never even was seriously considered to put the IRIS-T missiles in the F-4
wym theres multible images of the f16 in the hellenic airforce carrying the IRIS-T specificly the block 52+ is able to carry them only according to the hellenic airforce itself

Yea that’s like common, unfortunately as you said only the block 52+ have been seen with them
