Having been playing the F-15J after it got moved down, I know exactly what you mean.
Not having used the F-2 yet, I can’t really compare the RADARs, but I doubt it’s as bad as the F-15s, which likes to drop lock the second the enemy even broadly thinks about notching. Plus, no TWS or NCTR for spatial awareness.
It literally exactly the same, it can perfectly see targets and lock onto them, but it will randomly lose lock for a sec here and there, which means that aim-7m is wasted. I once lost a lock on a grippen going forward 12kms away, literally randomly lock loss for a millsec and then instant autolock back. Missile wasted.
Weird thing is, sometimes as you say it will lose lock, sometimes it continues normally as if nothing happened
It is very inconsistent and weird. On su30mkk, for example, I have never ever such a problem, despite them having worse radar.

Almost 9/10 matches, F-2A ADTW will get uptiered to 13.7 or straight 14.0, it can’t do jack shit
The only worth 13.0 in current meta are Kfir C10 and F-14 Iran cos Fox 3

The only real way to fix BR 13.0 is massive compression of 13.3+ aircrafts
Even if you dont get the full 14.0 uptier…13.3 provides plenty of options to get spammed by fox 3 and 99% of the battles they are in with you…its just a matter of luck and map (if you can mask their radar with terrain) that determines the outcome of your battle, experience and success…yeah in some cases you can spank the unsuspecting enemy as always but 9/10 times if you dont fly suicidally you end up with a 0 at the end of the battle and shot down because avoiding missiles, spending time in the battle doesnt give you anything nowadays if you dont hit something…
F-2A does just fine wdym

For example, su-30s on your videos never act like that for me, they usually will sling a missile towards you and instantly go full notch, so even if you commit to the aim-7ms radar, death from a pitbull is assured.
Yeah, that works vs lvl 10s in their brand new Su-30MKK flying like absolute retards because they are still trying to figure out how anything works except for how to bomb bases, the F-2 will eat shit the second you face someone with some skill
TRK MEM is a thing you know
generally I will just shoot at then, wait as long as I can in a crank before notching. this gives my missile as much guidance as possible before TRK MEM takes over
once I notched their missile I will just instantly turn in and shoot the next AIM-7, I use the sparrow as a pressure missile, force them to do something. I’m not letting them just push me without pressure
next thing is positioning
F-2A has the second best 13.0 radar, you get amazing awareness, it lets you position extremely well in order to avoid having to face flankers in 1v1 situations often or you can find them and shoot at them before they can see you which more than makes up for the speed of the AIM-7
I am not saying the F-2 is some godly plane that will beat a flanker any day (the premium ones are 1000% undertiered)
but it is definitely more capable than you are making it out to be
you need to work on your positioning and awareness while learning missile mechanics first, then complain about a great plane being “terrible”
This plane have to go down on battle rating definetly, or it needs to get some fox3s, btw if i need to say about top tier planes at the moment su30 mkk is op as F****CK, MAKE IT 14.0!!
