F-22 Raptor

You can barely make out “10MK7” which is a factory designation for the SM2 (SME is 10MK6 and 10MK5 is SM).

This is an earlier batch though, around 2022 iirc.

When it comes to the few information available that will be used to model things in-game, the EFT is better just because it has better coverage, and at times can offer duplicate overlapping coverage as well.

J37C moment right there. I find myself flying sideways with it when maintaining lock to work around the ±30º vertical coverage.

Obviously it won’t be as bad, but it reminded me of it

this should be reported.

i dont want the su-35 be DOA

well it already pretty much is

given they gave SM2 the radar it shouldnt have, and the dual R77 pylons that it shouldnt have

and even engines that it only tested

It was, but the BRM answer is “the N035 is an offered upgrade package”

According to @TheArcticFoxxo It was offered to India but I’m not super sure since I haven’t seen any sources on it.

true, but do we know all that much about the exact coverage of the F-22’s emitters?

Engines are planned to be fit on later batches afaik.

yeah so side arrays for F-22 fit in game

because they were an offered upgrade package

Shame the HMD and even the vertical ACM mode don’t cover the full vertical range, but if you get a lock or track you can mantain it with the F-18E almost while notching if you fly sideways pointing up to the target, kinda wonky though due to how the instructor works.

It’s slightly different, since N035 100% exists.

If you can prove that the side arrays were produced then you could probably convince the BRM to add it.

Yes, it doesn’t have any on-board emitters and uses the AESA radar, so ±60 degrees frontal.

Problem is that there’s nothing that indicates the F-22’s AESA radar can simultaneously jam and also do air to air intercept like gen ECRS Mk2 radar.

So this means:

Worse gimbal (±60)
Only able to either ECM or do air to air, not both.

where is that from?

worth looking into more, but most fighter AESA should have this capability afaik

It’s a screenshot I had saved but it’s from a secondary source magazine I had saved in my mega.

The standard is usually that it’s one or the other, not both. If I’m not mistaken this capability is usually expected of newer radars made in 2020+, and the F-22’s radar doesn’t fall into that, nor does any other radar as far as I’m aware. Even the ECRS Mk0 and Mk1 doesn’t feature this capability, just Mk2.

Aero India 2025, Vadim Badekha had a diplomatic Q&A wherein the topic of Indian Su-30 upgrades came up. He said that UAC was offering the upgrade package of the Su-30SM2 to be either dropped into the Su-30MKI or ordered independently. He had said that '177S would be achievable for near-future integration with Indian domestic engine production and upkeep.

Later on IDRW made a statement that the upgrade package, being said “unified” avionics modifications that the Su-30SM2 shares with the Su-35S, wasn’t in India’s current scope of intent. It was stated that uprated engines were left on the table while N035 was turned down due to India’s goal of putting in AESA in their 30MKI fleet.

The point of it is that IDRW reported an offer of Su-30SM2 technologies, of which were the branded as the same systems present on the Su-35S which is somewhat commonly exported. IDRW made an article in February of this year detailing how the N035 of the Su-30SM2 was still on the table, forgot the name of the article though. March also detailed it, though once again, I’m drawing a blank on its title.

You can quite clearly see AL-41F-1S on Su-30SM2s, what are you on about?

If you remember the articles, or have a video of the Q&A I would love to see it to put the whole debaucle to rest.

It may be a wait, if you remind me sometime around summer of next year when I have access to my desktop I should be able to get more Q&A info for you. As of now I have a new laptop that I didn’t have much time to set up, my direct connect software is currently in licensing purgatory, and I’m stuck in the armpit of the world for a considerable amount of time.

Here’s the February article

And here’s March

The side arrays were a part of the original design, and were cancelled due to cost but provisions like space, power and software were retained so that they could get refitted in the future but sadly every proposal to fit them later was rejected. Idk if this is good enough criteria for Gaijin to add them for balance reasons

yeah all we can do is hope the f22 gets it don’t get me wrong the f22 is already an absolute unit with its unmatched flight performance 2D thrust vectoring probably best acceleration and speed and stealth advantage over other 5th gen fighters AESA seeker gimbal would just let it take better advantage of those strength, giving it more opportunities to engage while making it even harder for the enemy to fight back effectively
