F-22 Raptor

Hopefully with EWR systems coming to NT, we see things like Datalink or AWACS soon. 🤞

I wonder if this is gonna be a detriment in the war thunder environment, as often times I take shots at people below me.
At what angle does the radar sit in the nose?

Indeed, the more we can simulate complex data networks the more immersive it gets in my opinion. Not sure how well we can count on buddy targeting over datalink knowing the average player haha but I can dream.

Where did they confirm that?

Hopefully they also Update some of the MFDs for sim players.

I’m sick of looking at the same TacNav MFD in so many planes.

30° angled up, this allows the radar to deflect incoming radar emissions up and off into space. Its a stealth/RCS reduction feature. ECRS employs this as the radar is always at 30° angle off bore. Fixed plates are often mounted at 30° but not always usually down to the room in the nose.

Top of my head;

  1. F/A-18E/F
  2. F-22
  3. F-35
  4. Eurofighter (only with ECRS radars)
  5. Rafale (albeit only a small mounting angle ~3°)
  6. Su-57
  7. Gripen E (Raven ES-05 is the same as ECRS)

Probably a few more out there to.

yeah but in game purposes it would really limit its stealth capability because if you want your missile to actually get a kill instead of being easily chaffed/notched you need that tws lock and 70 degrees just wont cut it you would have to close the gap and risk getting shot by r37ms and r77ms pl15s meteors and so on and when they do track the f22 they can simply get in notch use 120 each side and stay there damn its shame f22 cant be that goated sniper as much with this limitation its has everything but gimbal limit

woah so 30 + 60 equal 90? if that’s so it would way better than 60 flat

True to a point, if stealth is effective you would be able to launch much further out long before the other aircraft would have a track to return fire. The idea then is the missile has gone pitbull before you need to do much of anything defensive.

guess its not jover yet huh? is this actually implemented to the f22 or just an upgrade that was throw way because meh who need side looking aesa anyway am i right guys…

Yeah that’s exactly right however due to the fixed plate you do lose a non trivial amount of coverage in look-down.

The radar can look-up just as well as ECRS (note the scan zone at 100° above the Super Hornet);

However in look-down;

Hasn’t yet materialized as far as I know. I don’t know if it was completely canned but with the new 6th Gens over the horizon I’d be unsurprised to find it was cancelled completely.

Someone was playing Nuclear Escalation…

yeh i notes that f18e if you turn sideways you can notch a missile while guiding your own but you will feel dizzy a bit lol 😂 feel like im in Eurofighter

ahah Its the main game mode to me, few rough edges still but I typically have fun, and its been very fun trying to see what weapons work and what doesn’t.

That’s fair

I’ve been using it to grind out my MiG-29M, since ASM stuff is really easy.

(Plus a lot of the NE players aren’t that good)

I was trying out suppressing the ship with AARGM-ER while firing ASM’s at it. funny enough its hard because the AARGM-ER is very quick so the timings get interesting.

I haven’t tried the Super Hornet a lot, and when I did I prefered the PoBIT or F-15E (Since I love using JSOWs).

But doing ASM stuff with the Super Bug maybe fun.

Its a very fun jet. Got a decent avionics kit and enough stand off weapons that you don’t suffer too much from the lack of MAWS, just gotta watch that RWR and look for the smoke trails from the GBAD systems to get an idea which is actually targeting you and which ones you’re just in the illumination cone for.
