Isn’t the R-27ET very good? Can hit target up to 20km away very useful for runners.
Makes my point stronger
R27t not r27te
Correction
It has 15km range
I just saw someone that tested it and post it in other thread and it has the same range as aam3
Can you do a range comparison with the aam 3
11 km time to target
@Smin1080p_WT can u tell us exacly why the devs thinking that the python 4 will be op with nerfed irccm?
Its range isnt something we never saw and does its pull
And its on bad platform with only 6 missiles so it needs strong missiles( and only max of 4 python 4)
They’ve been seen using CATM-9s which I know for a fact, and in some cases likely live Aim-9s, but in the images I have you can’t see any blue bands. Regardless it’s compatible, and the IAF uses them still for the sake of using. They’ve been seen used on Ra’ams, Bazs, Baraks, and Sufas.
But a lot of countries tried and oparated it?
Thailand, china, the us, Germany and i think japan too but it may have been a rumor.
And so many equivalents exist without going to aim9x level, Currently we have 1~2 op ir missiles and all of the others have to suck it up with half ass aim9m that are not as they should be
Edit: i forgot india, columbia, georgia, chile ans many more
The f15s yes
The barak yes
The sufa?
Its a very new aircraft
The training missile doesnt mean it can use 9m amd more so 9l which i dout was in israeli stock when there was python 4 and even 5 if im not mistake
Even with incorrectly low thrust, F-16I is better than F-16D:
Which is an incorrect stat.
Also there’s yet to be a source that cites 10 tons.
IAF’s own website cited 9202kg with pilot, 20mm ammo, and potentially other things after removing 3.6 tons of fuel and missiles from 12.8 tons operating weight.
IAF’s empty weight is a contradiction with their operating weight.
The new engine doesn’t add 335kg like going from PW-220 to GE-129.
There isn’t any new lifting surfaces.
The only real changes is the slightly lighter engine, new radar, allegedly new landing gear, and a reduced tail section.
The sufa can use 9m and 9l since p4 and p5 use the same pylon
Aim9m yes but if i remember correctly israel retired the 9L’s in favour of the python 3 (training & low threat targets)
2006 isn’t that new really, and IAF aircraft have been seen carrying Aim-9s around even as recent as the 2020s. Again don’t have many images on hand, but they use them.
The IAF acquired the Aim-9M in 2008 (according to folks in the Shiryon Archive), while the F-16I was in service, for specific use of training and low priority missions on F-16s (so no 9Ms on anything else, it being on the F-15s is ahistorical as is). They have excess missiles, and although they have Python 4/5s in stock as well they’re still going to use old missiles they have when they work and need an excuse to use them.
Gotta get use out of them somehow, same reason some countries like Brazil have been seen using the Aim-9B on their F-5EM/FMs not to long ago when they have the Python 4 as well. The missiles are still in IAF stockpiles today, but ofc they’re going to take priority of using the Pythons if they believe there’s an actual chance of engagements.
Doesnt it related to software too?
If u have any photo of sufa taking real aim 9 pls show it
Currently i searched and didnt found anything that showed it carries aim 9
If i remember right when israel demonstrated the F35I adir they carrued aim9m’s, so its fair to assume the f16i uses it
Ok
I saw the second photo in unclear state so i couldnt tell but the first look valid ig
Any word on the channel loss for this plane?
Why are photos necessary when the F-16, much like Gripen and other aircraft, have never been deprogrammed from legacy air to air weapon support?
It’s not as if there’s storage limitations in the computer system for more missiles as time goes on and storage gets cheaper.
So unless LockMart says a new platform does not support x legacy weapon anymore, then it’s safe to believe LockMart’s current documentation.
Cuz f16i like f15i and f35i are heavily modified by israel more then in other countries including software changes
So makes sanse they just removed the unnececry stuff
(In case of f35 its a complete new software if i remember correctly )
