F-16AJ/ADF/MLU(Taiwan)/Netz BRs are too expensive

These have only missiles that do not have IRCCM, and it is very difficult to fight F-16C or Jas39C with these missiles.

I would agree, but F-16AJ just need new missiles

I don’t see it getting any though. It was proposed with Sparrows and Sidewinders only. The best an F-16AJ would’ve gotten if it was adopted would be equal to initial F-15Js, so 9L and 7F. Maybe 7M, not sure when Japan adopted them, but they wouldn’t matter in game anyways.

What they could do though is add more Sparrows, namely on all pylons that don’t have them yet, as well as fuselagy pylons that are missing in game.

Spoiler

YF-16A Sparrow testbed, the aircraft the AJ proposal was based on, as shown in the brochure.

Same aircraft with Sparrows on all pylons and a test launch on the fuselage pylons.

Problem that F-16AJ worse than F-4EJ Kai in my opinion, less flares, less missile, less ammo, only better is turn rate. It’s great plane, but i would rather play EJ Kai than F-16AJ

Then at least less missiles could be fixed, the real aircraft could take 8 missiles, while also being more flexible with full 8 SARH or 6 IR 2 SARH being possible.

Real aircraft would be better, but looks like Gaijin just hate JSDF. If we are not talk about “proposed F-16J” there also can be added F-4EJ Super Kai(ADTW version) which also had guided bombs/AGM, ARH. Literally Japanese analog of F-4F ICE

I mean I think honestly F16 A MLU/ADF should go down to 12.7, 12.3 for the early F16 with 9L only cause it isn’t like broken at that BR anyway. I think the best solution is to do decompression like the players asked for in the past 2 patches.

EJ Kai already on 12.3, so F-16 12.7, because before it was 11.7 and 12.0 for EJ Kai and F-16AJ

I mean 12.3 won’t change anything(F16 early with no AIM7), it’s just like a higher tier J7E, great dog fighter with good RWR and full aspect, but taking into account 1. you still get Fox 3s at 13.0/13.3, 2.how strong the IRIAF F14 or even just normal F14 is it doesn’t make that much of a difference to have a AIM9L carrier at same BR. F16A (MLU,DF,J,Netz) should all go down to 12.7 to avoid too much top tier cause kills are essentially impossible if you meet AIM120/PL12s, even R77s are really hard to dodge at this rate. Whilst for 11.7 vehicles like Mig23 MLD their disadvantage will be obvious, but I don’t see why with ok radar, full aspect they can’t put up a fight.

I agree with block 15 and AJ on 12.7, not sure about Netz. I mean he have only IRs, but it’s very good IRs so he need also 12.7

I mean it is python 3 so not like JH7 at same BR doesn’t have the same missile, just more of it for Netz since it is air superiority fighter. I just feel it is unfair for python 3 vs AIM7 and it is good but 10Gs more is not really a 0.3 BR.

Gaijin forgot or lazy. But I don’t want gaijin lazy again

Honestly they should just give it AAM-3s since Japan would have upgraded to those anyway and it sits at the same BR as the F-15J (in air RB).

Unless of course, we’re going to see the F-2 soon…

Imagine, what if they added to JASDF full weaponary, AIM-9L for F-1, AAM-3 for EJ Kai. And also guided anti-tank weaponary

That’s why i’m not sure, like, it’s already F-16 block 10(best turn rate) and Pythons which have higher G-limit but also it’s close to attacker version.

Yeah, but I mean python first appeared on F5ECU which is currently 11.3, with great turn rate, but it isn’t OP. Making it slightly stronger, sure but not OP.
I would like decompression to come in.

They can be added as F-1(late) and F-4EJ kai(late)

Didn’t gear door pylons reject from Dev team because of technical issues?

Technically yes, their reasoning was:

The game also has technical limitations for the implementation of such hardpoints, for example, in the case of a landing gear breakdown, the detachment of the doors with the AIM-7 missiles installed would cause the loss of weapons. Or the reverse situation, when it would be impossible to destroy the landing gear with the missiles installed.

But keep in mind we have things such as wing mounted armament on Tornado swing wings as well. So while it was rejected for technical reasons, those reasons weren’t that it’s impossible but that they didn’t want to put in the effort for a one off aircraft. Keep in mind this isn’t a mechanic they could reuse a lot.

This wasn’t their main official reasoning though, which was instead one that makes absolutely no sense. That reasoning was:

The F-16AJ project was designed for export to Japan after the completion of the F-16 testing program. The prototypes of the aircraft did not have a complete set of radio equipment, such as radar, and had to have AIM-7 missiles not only on underwing pylons, but also on landing gear doors and wingtips that is illustrated by photographs of aircraft during testing. However, in subsequent series of the F-16, including production modifications, it was decided to abandon the hardpoints on the landing gear doors. Obviously, designers had reasons for this, that is why we limit the F-16AJ to have 2x AIM-7 missiles on standard underwing pylons.

Essentially they stated that because other operating nations didn’t opt for additional Sparrows, they could assume Japan wouldn’t either. However this completely ignores the reason the F-16AJ was proposed in the first place.

The F-16AJ brochure was a later follow up, or more accurately updated version of the F-16J proposal. The brochure even still goes by F-16J, only specifying the single and two seat variants as F-16AJ and F-16BJ respectively. However this original proposal was rejected due to overall lacking air defense capabilities when compared to the also proposed F-14J and F-15J, the latter of which ended up winning the competition.
The F-16AJ itself was a last ditch effort near the end of the selection process, not to just add Sparrow capabilities to the F-16 so it had a chance to compete, but to try and outmatch the already favored F-14 and F-15. This is why it is illogical to assume that not only Japan would have received less than the maximal advertised Sparrow capability, but even less than the aircraft it was supposed to compete with.

Meanwhile other exported Sparrow capable F-16s were the F-16ADF, an off the shelf variant of the F-16 developed for the US Air National Guard that carries two Sparrows at a maximum. Similar to the F-16AJ these were based off of the YF-16A Sparrow testbed, however these only came to be almost a decade after the F-16AJ proposal and are not the same aircraft, or even derivatives of each other, they simply have a common root. These cannot be seen as analogues to an F-16AJ intended for the sole purpose of beating out state of the art air superiority fighters and interceptors in a competition.

in fact there was only 2 EJ Kai. Common(we have it in game) which had AAM-3 irl, and ADTW version with a lot of guided weapon + ARH(XAAM-4) which have minimum 2 flights, so it’s not just “blueprint”
