It performs better in terms of CAS (4x AIM120 / 2x AIM120 + AIM-9M * 6x Mav + 2x GBU-12), but with a worse targeting pod, worse airframe.
agreed, it’d be amazing at CAS w/ a slightly lower Ground BR, and still be sort of competitive in 13.0 Air
Also, if they allowed it the 8x maverick loadout instead of arbitrarily preventing it, it would truly be a standout 13.0.

No it can’t be balanced because it is ahistorical. F-16A OCU never had AMRAAMs, and therefore it’ll always be in limbo as it has 45CM, 6 hardpoints and AMRAAMs. Remove the AIM-120s, you get a F-16 with only 9M and superior CAS. It’d fit well into 13.0 territory as it is superior to the F-16AJ in terms of CAS, missiles and features. It’d just be the Belgian F-16A but with slightly better CAS.
Also would shorten the gap between 11.3 F-5T and 13.7 F-16A.
+also yes we still need BR decompression. I think even with that though, it’d be an oddball. It wants to use AIM-120s but kinda lacks anything else for a top tier aircraft.
Considering how many Japanese/Thai vehicles are treated, I doubt any of them will be truely historical. F-5T lacks additional hardpoints, F-16AJ just doesn’t exist, Alpha Jets lack new engine, Ki-200 is actually the J8M1 (while the actual Ki-200 isn’t in game either), AH-1S Kisa has CM but Cobra doesn’t, Type 10/TKX Armour + Transmission, etc.
They “fixed” it, but just renamed the engines but didn’t change the thrust.

BR balancing has nothing to do with historical or ahistorical configurations, I see your point, but your solution ends up in a similar problem.
The Belgian F-16A is one of the worst 13.0s and its not possible to balance it due to the BR compression either, just like the OCU.
I wouldn’t say its one of the worst, but yeah I see your point. Either way, remove OCU AIM-120s because even w/ decompression, it’d suck at any BR. w/ Decompression + removal of AIM-120s, I see it being great.
Then it’d be 13.0, like the Belgian F-16A and you’d still see EF-2000 and other planes.
I also don’t think decompression is coming anytime soon, last year they added a whole extra BR and now that’s at 14.0 with Rafale and them.
I think F-16A is just gonna have to be one of those planes that just got taken over by power creep, like JAS-39. I know is worse by far but you know what I mean.
Best think I see is down to 13.3, then it’ll still stuck but their may be less chance of full up tier, and more chance to be better in downtiers.
Fair, but I rather have it suck realistically than be some weird mix of different variants with name, model and half the guided air to ground ordnance of the OCU, AMRAAMs of the ADF and (e)MLU, Python 3 and DASH of the two seaters and less CMs than any of them should have.
Make the OCU an actual OCU, with no AMRAAM, more CMs and more and better CAS weapons, then I will worry about balancing
