I wonder how much of that is price

Both are marketed as low cost options, and still Gripen can’t even beat the F-16

Not mentioned: Bribes. Also all of these orders are very different

Americans just “do bussiness better”. For example poles will buy anything american for bribes or “status” (don’t know which is worse)

The practical answer is that gripen doesn’t have enough support but still has enough technology “leashes” to have export restrictions

Why do you always assume the absolute worst for anything American, the F-16 just won, Poland buys American because it is good, just deal with it

part of it was that it was just as expenisve (if not cheaper) than upgrading the Mig-29s they had to NATO standarts

Also I wager it’s hard to sell the gripen as an European alternative when something as important as the engines is still american.

not only that, but i think its either the typhoon or the gripen (i don’t remember which) use F-16 software as a base, and the way i’ve heard it Poland actual is making the offers to purchase items, and history has shown that they are good for it as they are the first line of defense if Russia invades the EU so they want all the shit they can get, not to mention the few Russian drones that have impacted on polish soil unintentional or not gives them even greater reason to arm up with US equipment which is furiously tested in all if not most climates

it feels like europeans and european tech glazers never consider battle experience and the fact that just because their thing is newer does not mean it is better

indeed, often times a perfected product is better than a new one

Sounds like the big Air Force is eyeing up on newly built F-16 airframes, under the F-16G designation.

So basically newer ESA (90% still fixed plate), new RWR/ESM and stuff from new built block70 like CFTs.

Wonder if spine would come back

Spine seems to be export only derivative where foreign nations use the F-16D as an additional asset along side with training (F-16D Blk 52+ exported to various nations and 16D/I Barak and Sufa)

I haven’t seen any USAF F-16s with the avionics spine but it could change. Plus would be nice to have the additional integral countermeasures instead of sacrificing some A2A missiles for the PIDS+ pylon

I though 90CMs is the standard?

And i don’t see any mention of MAW for the VIPER SHIELD so still needed there

Gaijin changed it because of the visual model of how many CMs are represented (which I find dumb in the first place) but they should be interchangeable depending what bucket they use

F-16C can hold up to 120CMs internal.

IIRC, M-206 is one of the 1x1 flares that can fit into the 1x30 buckets. MJU-7 is the 2x1 that fits into the 1x15 buckets.
