F-16 Fighting Falcon: History, Performance & Discussion

Guess ‘bug eyes’ serve a more important suppose in modernized RWR systems

The Sufa’s got a big pair of them

Would be nice of Gaijin to give the F-16’s (and other aircraft with similar gunsights) smooth motion for the sights instead of them being 5 fps.

Does anyone know what the extra panels/patches
on the side of the nose(bug eyes) slightly above serial no. are for?
For comparison, a smooth one

I’ve read that they are panels of Radar Absorbing Material (RAM)

So they’re RCS reduction measure specially made for this area?

Initially it was a modification seen mostly on Block 30/32s. So, because of where it is around the old RHAWS antenna, I wonder if it’s part of the Antenna Optimization modifications for ALR-69 that was mentioned for Block 30s in some of the ALR-69A contracts.

If it is RAM, I imagine having it there could be to reduce radar reflections from the F-16’s own nose from being picked up by the bug-eye antennas and giving inaccurate directions (similar to how multipath happens to radar at low altitude).

Taking 6*ARH to 14.3 feels like bringing a revolver to a chaotic gunfight, which makes me wonder if it is technically possible that AMBER racks get fitted to
F-16. IMO PoBIT kinda need it more than F-15CGE or EX now.

Was AMBER rack even functional?

According to information it was designed for Turkey and tested to certain degree.

I highly suspect its enough for Gaijin tho.

It uses different rack. Not AMBER

Does anyone know if AIM-9X/M or AIM-120 can be used with AN/ALE 50.
I remember seeing Sidewinder with AN/ALE 50 but not AMRAAM (I think it was 9M and not 9X)
Also how many ADM-160 can F-16 carry?

Yeah, they both fit on LAU-129 under the ALE-50

Thank you!!

Don’t forget the (covert) IR variant too.

Is American F-16 being integrated with britecloud?

Yes, it’s known as the AN/ALQ-260(V)1

Flares are stores so it “should” fall under Gaijin’s technical capability exception anyway, so any airframe that uses the ALE-40 / MJU-12 Dispenser-Magazine combo should be fine since there is an MJU-7 form factor(2" x 1") offering.

Also not that Countermeasures are properly modeled and are generic, so performance reports are ignored as gaming convention for the most part

Nice, 4 TRD, britecloud and EW pod would be epic whenever they add ECM/EW.
Thanks for the info!!

Though it is probably in the wrong series, as it should be ADM-260. But that’s in the noise.
