For cruise missiles, it’s because they use regular turbofan or turbojets, they actually are able to fly for that long or longer IRL

thats odd tho, didnt the devs say multiple times “5th gens by the end of the year” or something?
if not then when are they gonna add them? in the boring ass feb/march update? i really just wanna see what they could possibly come up with for the dec update if its not the first 5th gens
Plans change, they were busy developing nuclear escalation and the very questionable infantry, there was a blog post during summer iirc where they said a feature was delayed because resources and dev time were allocated to those, and honestly I’m glad if we really don’t get 5th gens this year they ought to get 4th and 4.5 gens more features and mechanics before then, we need EW first

tbh i expected ew/next gen ir to come this patch, but i could still see them adding those 2 along with 5th gens for december, but i guess we’ll have to wait and see what theyre planning

yeah maybe EW and other Big QOL/mechanic additions for December than feb or summer adds either next gen ir or arh missiles, followed by then either summer update or December update next year for 5th gens.
wow you expectations were way ahead of mine, I was arguing back at the end of last year and honestly will still argue that 5th were not coming this year and would be halfway though 2027.

i think next gen ir is mandatory next patch if we’re being real, been wayyyy too long since we’ve had anything new there, also the r73 being buffed makes it turn way better than before, like a true thrust vectoring dogfight missile. so id see them adding the 9x,iris t, r73m next patch 100%
I don’t think they ever specifically said by the end of this year, just that it wouldn’t come to the game any earlier than the last half of 2026. Last RU Stream, bvv_d said (translation so may be errors) that “its not the end of 2026 yet”, which suggests that it might’ve been a plan, but its kind of ambigious still. Its sort of like submarines, constantly getting a “soon” “maybe” and then we finally see it almost out of nowhere.
yeah but its much better and more needed for them to use some updates to fix major issues, this constant rush to add big new vehicles each update is exactly why we have the compression, map size and player number per match issue, unProperly balanced cas, Heli’s, modeling issues, inaccuracies in capability’s and planes features. them slowing down is important.

we have had consistent missile additions since 2 years ago while I agree that fox2’s haven’t had one in a while it was because theirs no need, and the meta kinda makes them pointless. however I will say I do see the rare possibility we get some new IR missiles next update along side EW things like later aim9ms i.e block 10 aim9m along with buffs to the python, and magic as well as the addition of the r-74 as its pretty much a better irccm for what is essentially gameplay wise r27ET and r73 hybrid.
Its engine pretty much operates at peak efficiency always and doesn’t suffer from low speed launch issues. It also maxes out its speed, they used the max speed as its average cruise speed
