F-14A (IRIAF) is the least balanced aircraft in the game

Well, if we’re looking at the F-14A, it’s a F-4S with a better FM and Phoenixes. To me, neither of those things equals 0.7 BR higher. Just to reiterate, it has at best Aim-9Hs, Aim-7Fs, Aim-54As, and that’s it. No countermeasure pods, no all aspects, no all aspect PD radar, nothing. It doesn’t even have a 1:1 TWR when empty.

There are some pros though:
The only thing beating you speedwise is the MK2000 and F-111
You hold speed amazingly
You have a vulcan

IMO, this doesn’t justify it being 12.7 though. If they gave it Aim-9Ls + lower engine heat I could see it.

It is the better way to make the gap narrower between F-4J and F-14A USN.

f14a just has slow acceleration the top speed is good, it loses energy in a turn because it’s fucking huge with weaker engines so you need to unsweep the wings and use the lift to outturn mig29s or su27s the f16 will dog you though

You are comparing to the premium F-4S which should be 12.3 (its OP at 12.0). The F-14A is surely better than the F-4S, and it fits nicely into 12.7.

Now the F-14A IRIAF and the yak141 should both be 13.0 if we get some decompression like I mentioned

Both mig29 and su27 will out dogfight an f-14a if played correctly with counter 2C instead of giving the f14 the rate fight it wants

That’s true but the f14a is very capable of getting guns on target before the fight drags out if you manually unsweep the wings immediately but if you can’t then yeah you’re dead.

I would propose changing reward toward fighter , rather than remove Napalm from aircraft entirely. Nerf base reward toward fighter and buff the kills reward even more

And look at equivalent F4s at the same BR from other nations. FGR2/FG1 and especially F4J(UK) has no slats and no HMD

As @Stockholm_Blend said, the F-4S is handheld because it’s the current cash cow for the USA.

It goes without saying that every phantom with aim7F should get a BR bump. F-4S, F-4J to 12.3 and the EJ kai to 12.7.

The tech tree F-14A is one of the jets that actually sits balanced at his BR. Its a good dogfighter able to carry 6 Aim-7F with a good gun and a decent radar with TWS (even though is hprf pd only).

The downsides are a bad RWR, very hot engines, and few countermeasures. The phoenixes are not very useful (I only carry 1), especially if an IRIAF F-14s in your team because he gets all those easy/distracted kills first and with more reliability.

it seems everyone who isn’t OP knows AIM-9P is almost identical to AIM-9J bc it is an export version.
slightly better pulls but a significantly shorter range.

This hasn’t been much an issue for me in my F-14A. I keep my AF off most of the time unless I’m dogfighting, and fly with a 50/50 mix of flares and chaff.

dogfighting is when you’re most likely to have fox2s and even when you cut afterburner you still have engines at over 2000° degrees
