so recently, the F-14A and B has been pretty lacking in terms of capabilites, I do not mean the IRIAF btw.
Ideally, F-14A should get AIM-9L, maybe even AIM-7P for both F-14A and B, I think these are additions that would improve the QoL aspect of the tomcat, since the F/A-18C (Early) is also the same BR with a same kit if we ever get these missiles on the tomcat.
This is arguable, but maybe even AIM-9M for F-14B as well. since things like F-15A and even F-15J are the same BR and both carry very powerful IRCCM missiles, F-14B should get some help also.
Let me know your thoughts on this, for me the tech tree variants are definitely not unplayable, but the justification of AIM-54s don’t really make them that high of a BR either, since most players already learned how to dodge these relatively easy missiles. Fakour 90 is an issue I dont want to discuss, and I think IRIAF is fine where it is, maybe it needs an AIM-9L but that’s about it.
I hope this is considered for the next BR change/placement, I think the statisics are pointing this way too.

From what I have read there are a number of improvements that could be made to the Phoenixes and the F-14 in general, that would be my preferred fix. there are a lot of legacy vehicles that where introduced in a nerfed state for balance reasons then just left to die on the vine, they really need a revisit and rebalance in my humble opinion.
Oddly Gaijin did that for all the German stuff nobody can get anymore.
F14A cant get the AIM7P the F14B could get AIM-7P but it would function similar to the AIM-7M as the F14Bs radar did not have a DATA LINK station for the AIM-7P
be real, you are never using phoenixes for actual combat other than spamming 4 or 6 off at the start of every match, after that they basically have the same if not worse kit.
F-14A IRIAF could get the R-73 and have that replace the AIM-9J.
I think it could be a good change if the IRIAF gets moved to 13.3 as it’s rather lacklustre in everything other than Fakour spam. The way it is now with abysmal short range missiles on the plane incentivices Fakour-spam gameplay and immediate RTBs, maximising the cancer factor of the plane.
And having Fakours at a higher BR is good since many planes the F-14A IRIAF faces today have a hard time detecting let alone evading it (as an example 2/3 Mirage F1s have terrible RWRs).
On the other hand the horrible defensive kit it has may mean 13.0 is the ceiling for it as it may become unviable to play even at a higher BR if it gets a better missile kit, leading to the status quo being retained.
As far as I know ithe R-73 was only tested on the F-14A but if Gaijin could add the R-27R to it they can certainly do the same for the R-73.
