Its not irrelevant, just in this situation you can work around it. You have a better turn rate, and pull more AOA so you need to use flaps and go for a quick kill, probably a stall shot and then leave.

Difference is that in top tier you actually don’t need to care because of maneuverable Fox 3s that’ll end any short range engagements. Also offbore missiles.

As one of F-14 enjoyer, R-27ER is the most horrible SARH when flying the F-14A because RWR tells nothing also, missiles are fast as fuck.
And when you and target are flying above Mach 1 and at an altitude of 8,000m, the best distance you can hit the AIM-54 is about 50 km.
Funny, brings up the fact that i never played the MiG-21, but i have a more accurate view on the MiG-21’s dogfight ability than his view on the phoenix being “close” to the ER.

The simple fact that it has TWS makes it far better than the radar of the Phantom, people underestimate how nice it is to have TWS (and especially for simulator).

It has TWS but its a front aspect radar. That would suck to use in top tier, lets not act like it wouldn’t.
Maybe because it become obvious you didn’t fly it, from the words you wrote.
And you can always carry AIM-7s if AIM-54s doesn’t suit you. But MiG-21 is still stuck with only IR guided missiles.
Doesn’t change anything, have any form of TWS is still good rather not to have it. The Phantom is my most played vehicle and I till this day wish it had TWS in-game no matter how sh*t it would be (only something I could continue dreaming about however, the UK Phantoms were never able to use TWS in real life).

Its obvious you havent flown the F-14 based on what you said about it. You have like 2 top tier planes, and you overestimate the strength of the F-14.
I never said TWS isn’t a good quality, but lets not act like the front aspect radar is good enough for top tier.
