So, the F-14 IRIAF was raised in BR from 12.3 to 12.7 which is where it should have stayed. Lately it was raised again to 13.0 BR. Is this due to Iran hate or something? Because its technology is way outdated for this type of BR range.
(1) Its radar can’t tell between what’s an aircraft or an AAM munition. So half the time TWS is tracking a missile and I can’t find the actual planes. Trying to find a real target spends too much time and I get hit my enemy AAM because the stupid radar is acting up.
(2) TWS can hardly track targets, it keeps jumping off-target or switching to another. Referring to head-on targets obviously since the radar is HDN.
(3) Due to the above issues, even the Fakour 90 misses 90% of the shots even if the enemy is heading toward me. Was the Fakour’s seeker nerfed or something? Because once my missiles get close to the enemy they just un-track and go past.
I do exactly as you did in this video, but for some reason the ones I fire un-track the targets once they get close. And my plane is almost spaded so I’m not some braindead idiot like these other commenters are implying. I have a spaded Swedish Gripen A and C both. I am used to top-tier.
What distance did you launch at? Is 40 to 50 km too far?
Its perfectly fine at 13.0, it’s only real downside is it’s IR missiles but that’s made up with comical performance of the fakours. (Side note it’s made grinding this event unbelievably easy :p)
It’s also a missile that sometimes (often) relies on the enemy being quite dense, arrogant, [Insert some other term here]. This is the second part of that video (I posted them here the other day):
If the enemy has some brain cells, your F90s can miss no matter how long you try guide them in. All part of the fun.
I’m wondering now that J-8F is getting all-aspect IR to go with its PL-12 at 13.0, if this F14 can get AIM-9L, if Iran ever equipped them. Though, F-14B is due for some TLC first.
IIRC US stopped all exports to Iran when the revolution happened in 1979. 9L started production in 1976 and the IOC with US was achieved in 1978. It is not out of the time frame but imo highly unlikely.
I somehow doubt that R-27 integration because getting the US radar communicate with the Russian missile would be probably extremely hard; then again ukies bootstraped HARMs to their MiG-29s so.
there is no chance, you have to remember the AIM-9L is way worse ingame than it was IRL, when it hit IOC it was the best IR AAM in the world so wouldnt have been exported to Iran even before revolution
