So, I’ve noticed that the F-117 has a skin and that said skin requires you to get player kills in order for it to unlock. Since we can’t choose which aircraft we fly in Ground Arcade, and there’s no US ships at 7.7, that kind of leaves us with the off chance that we bomb somebody waiting on an airstrip or get lucky enough that an undamaged plane J’s out and we’re the closest aircraft to them when they do.
There is, however, a perfectly workable destroy enemy ground target requirement that could be used instead. There’s also putting bombs on bases, which would be more in line with the F-117’s historical mission parameters, but I’d hate to see how many tons you’d need to put down at 8.7 with only 2 bombs at a time. The F in the 117 was really only there to lure the fighter jocks in who had the skillsets to fly it but wouldn’t be caught dead in something with a B in front of it. This thing was a tactical bomber meant to hit stationary targets, not CAS or a fighter (and that’s straight from the mouth of General Dixon).
In any case, this seems to be the first time that a skin has been placed on a plane that puts it out of reach of an entire mode of play.
I cant wait for the collective tears of the Maus drivers when they get nuked from space by it. 1940’s tank being off’d by a 1980s stealth airframe. (I should note I dont know if it retains its 8.7 in GRB, but would be hilarious)
It is, in fact, 8.7 in Arcade, of which this thread is dedicated to. I would like the issue to be fixed in Arcade as, again, this is the first time a skin has been locked from a given mode.
I would guess there are other planes that have very low odds of getting air kills…
I always assumed these “skins” (cammo on bombers) had to be farmed in GROUND RB…at least effectively.
I personally agree with you…as skins are mostly “decorative” i think they could be easier to get…BUT i am guessing that PVE modes to get skins could be “abused” somehow…or so someone thinks…
THAT SAID…it is also possible that nobody really thought this trough :)
