The F-117 has been a pretty useless addition to the game in all modes, and especially so in ASB/EC. The ordinance on board is simply not enough to do anything substantial. Combined with the subpar flight characteristics you have ‘BLUFOR’ teams full to the brim with clueless frisbees, whose only role isn’t even niche or relevant.
This has only compounded the general issue of ‘zombing’ within EC, which seems to be particularly prolific within EC6 and EC7. It is truly a shame for this bracket, primarily because it hosts nearly all of the true Cold War gunfighters. The duels between MiG-15s and F-86s are far and few between despite the amount and accessibility of these vehicles modelled in game.
The lack of development into the mode as a whole has also been highlighted in this update, especially with the airfields. Rolands and (insert map relevant gun AAA) now sit all through out the hangar side of the airfield with no thought put into their placement. This may have been throughout all modes, but I haven’t really looked into them due to my distaste for the metas within them (I am bad at the other modes). It would be nice to see the SAM sites and some more objectives related to them to fit with them that Gaijin has been sitting on top of, and teasing, for at least 2 years.
There is more I have to say on this, but at current I haven’t really coherently organized my thoughts around it in a non outrageously toxic matter.
In my opinion, the F-117 would have been a brilliant replacement for drones in ground modes, especially so in night battles where it would have a much greater chance to be actually useful.

Yep. This thing is completely useless at BRs where you don’t use your radar anyway.
It’s main task (destroying air defense at night) is not in the game, so it’s a zero trick pony.
But my Mig-15 likes them…

Absolutely no surpise! This game is not about immersive and interesting gameplay.
I said this a long time ago before the F-117 was even a rumor - that in order to bring that to the game we’d need a mode to accommodate it
i.e. Ground radars to avoid and some sort of goal, the thing was designed to operate as a surprise weapon so when the enemy knows you’re coming it’s sorta a waste of a vehicle.
Absoulrely agree.
Well, Gaijin does not want to create proper gameplay for strike planes.
Instead of having complicated assalut missions with interesting scenario, non-linear plot and strategic planning, we have “hit and run” gameplay. The difficulty in this case is to avoid being killed by OP fighter plane.
My problem with the airplane isn’t the airframe. It’s the pilots it brings with it. F-117 pilots truely contribute nothing to the game in terms of engagement beyond incredibly slowly draining tickets from base bombing. Nighthawk pilots also have the extreme tendency to be PvE zombers ONLY.
No surprise at all. This is how current gameplay is designed.
What do you expect from them to do to be excluded from “PvE Zombers” list?
Not even that half the time, as it seems they can’t quite destroy a base, so leave a load of bases on 10% health until some other player comes along to finish the job (usually in an aircraft that could have done the whole job properly in the first place).
Luckily it’s a squad vehicle so no one who knows their @ss from their elbow ever needs to get it, but - as was pointed out - there’s still those ‘others.’
Bring another vehicle that isn’t complete brain off?
I should probably elaborate, because this comes off as quite offhanded. In short, if you are bringing a pure attack aircraft, with no offensive armament whatsoever, it is in your team’s (and by extent your) best interest to actually bring something with offensive armament. All that so you can meaningfully contribute to your team at least once.
That is my point. Gaijin did not create proper gameplay, so player have no choice other than to play PVE.
Thanks for clarifying! Thought that was your point at first.
If you’re in an F-117 (and a few other bombers) you don’t have any choice but to play PvE (in SB) - which is fine, but there’s no objectives that suit it’s specific abilities.
It’s an odd choice for a game such as this because it’s only good if no one knows it’s out there (but this is a game so ppl know it’s coming).

Exactly! That I have been talking about for a long time!
I would like to see immersive and interesting gameplay that should go much further than simple PvP.
Yes, it is not easy to create good missions, but it is possible!
Gaijin totally ignore huge potential - WarThunder fans who are able to create content.
Example - Green Armor mod.
Every friday Gaijin give golden eagles to players for having fun in the game.
I proposed to do the same for missions creation. This suggestion was accepted. I hope it will be implemented.
