Well, the Milan has an uprated engine so it’s a bit of a hot rod Mirage. Not quite as nutty as the Kfirs, but still a decent upgrade. 800ish kgf over the standard Mirage 3C is spicy.

Honestly kinda like using the AIM-4 missiles. They’re a fun challenge. Definitely not particularly effective or strong, but I like trying to work around their deficiencies. Now if I could replace them with four R-60s, then the F-106 would be hilariously broken.

Also yet to mention that the AIM-4 FCS is kinda not added, the bare minimum of which is the ability of the plane to transmit radar and HMD data to the missile before it’s even outside of the internal missile bay. You should be able to lock someone for the IR missile, push the launch button and the plane opens the missile bay briefly to launch and then closes it quickly after.

On god when the 106 came out I was feasting with the mirage IIIC. Easy 3-5 kills any game because there were so many and they were way overconfident in their planes.

The cannon is good yea but the fuselage is NOT OP you loose all your speed in a single turn kinda like the f-111s and it takes a good bit to get that speed back, the missiles arent op by any means they can be dodged by moving slightly and they dont have a proximity fuse…

The other day I didnt see one of these being shot at me and accidently pulled up slightly and the thing missed keep in mind he was above behind me and was faster and shot from 1km away and it missed and i was flying basically straight.

If you are fighting one of these they are either gonna boom and zoom or dogfight if they boom and zoom just dodge it and they have to come back around which gives you time to prepare, if they dogfight just avoid crossing their nose for a turn or two and then he has lost all his speed and you should be able to kill him and if youre struggling to evade the missiles that just a major skill issue on your end they are very easy to dodge

It doesn’t even look like it can pull 10G when even the heaviest bomber pulling less then 5G can dodge it.

5 of my last battles. I’m getting a lot of mileage out of the Aim-4Gs. I think they are a lot better than 9B at close ranges (1.5km and under). They are fantastic flares vs Aim-9Ls since you can lock with HMD. Your main prey are slow targets, unaware targets, and targets going too fast and compressing. I carry only 2 missiles.

Actually for some reason the aim 4F only pulls 15g, the 27g is only on the stat card

The missiles on the f-106 are useless, the hms is pointless considering the missiles, the m61 is the only good thing about it, and the engine is only good when carefully maintaining a high speed because the energy retention and acceleration are non existent , and it gets outrun by the f-104, the mig-19 f-104 ariete and i would even argue the shenyang f-5 are generally much better than the f-106 at 9.3, increasing the f-106’s br even a little bit would make it completely unplayable

hmmm, my pattern recognition spotted the number 27 for Maximum fin lateral acceleration, which is the same 27 figure stated for the max g overload on the stat card. I think I know what happened here.

even if the maximun fin lateral acceleration is the 27 the 15 g on the maximun g load acts like a hard cap, the aim4g does have the 27g value for that variable and it does reach it, at least on the statshark simulation.

There pretty easy to kill. What are you flying that’s giving you trouble?

But like I’ve stated on other threads, the AIM-4F/G missiles are extremely nerfed ingame compared to what they should be historically, the AIM-4G (which is the better of the 2 right now) should be able to turn 27Gs according to the spreadsheet and stat shark, is ingame limited to something like 11 gs because it’s not allowed to pull more than 9º of AoA (a value the PID controller won’t even get near), should have more than triple the field of view it currently has at launch, have an all aspect seeker instead of a rear aspect seeker, not inexplicably explode after travelling 12km, and should be slightly faster at launch. Meanwhile the 4Fs have the same problems as the G’s but even less manoeuvrability, lose lock within 150 meters of the target (although to be fair, that seems a bug for ALL pulse guided missiles), and are missing the ECCM/anti chaff circuits.

And that’s just the missiles, there’s loads of other things that aren´t working properly on the 106a. I wouldn’t mind a BR increase to 10.0 or 10.3 if at least most of the problems were fixed.
