Fair enough
Just do better. You want to charge 70 quid/dollars/euros for a skin? Then actually have effort and work put into it.
I’d be surprised if the JP VA’s aren’t AI-generated too. So sad to see WT go this way, especially when most updates have more premium vehicles than TT ones.
WarThunder though looks kind of small is one of the most successful games out there. Out stripping FPS games and the like. WarThunder is likely not going anywhere this is also the reason for there addition of infantry to take bigger chunks out of the FPS market. Warthunder’s power is its free to play in theory and you don’t have to buy a new game every few years.
To be honest, the occurrence of this situation makes me curious about the cost of outsourcing this project. I hope the transparency of the project can be higher, such as publishing some three-view drawings and design drafts of Senrai Maidens to prove that they were manually created. Even the previous generation of Senrai Maidens was suspected of using AI for creation, and this incident has further deepened our distrust of this series.
Unlikely The overall voice actor industry has clamped down on AI stuff for that. Japan would go Atomic if that where to happen like with the whole Netflix incident happened.
you aren’t paying for the skin, you’re mostly paying for the premium bonueses and ability to grind a whole tree with 1 tank
Nothing beats a pile of people who want to find one error and nuke the forms with it.
But the same goes. Free is actually the most expensive. What really attracts people to War Thunder is its unique gameplay and mechanics, and there are no competitors. The cost of playing War Thunder is actually not low. I once completed most of the Chinese ground combat tech tree without using a premium account or premium vehicles. That took me a lot of time.
Very true but that’s how warthunder beat COD
The fact your post calls artists AI is insulting; & I hope it was unintentional on your part.
That or it shows you cannot identify AI art while pretending you can, & I honestly don’t know which is worse.
There are dozens of competitors.
Worse competitors are still competitors no matter how many times people deny it.
Honestly that is like saying Steam has actual competitors
I have no intention of insulting. But it is a good thing for the development process in this area to be more open. Because when my friends around me are discussing whether the characters in the first release also used AI, I cannot provide evidence that AI was not used to end the discussion. A more open creative process would also be more conducive to the subsequent sales of products in the same series. Regarding competitors, it should be my wording that caused a misunderstanding on your part. No other game has a collaborative combat mechanism between air and ground forces like War Thunder. In this aspect, as well as in many similar aspects, no other competitor can match it.
The AI portion of my post was in reply to “imightbmantis”, and not yourself.
I cannot identify AI art that uses real techniques.
Noise, painted art, etc will not be identifiable for me, because I’ve seen real artists over-use noise in the ten-thousands.
I’ve seen hundreds to thousands of stuff like this from 2015 - 2020…
But I also cannot with certainty say it’s not AI, because I cannot identify it even if it was due to seeing this exact artstyle hundreds of times years before AI existed from real artists.
So I won’t pretend to know how to identify the art that Nostalgistic is accusing of being AI.
But I do know the art piece that @imightbmantis accused of being AI is a hilariously common artstyle, & the artist is known.
You remember the update image from a while ago that showed an air to air scene that contained an explosion that was literally the space shuttle Challenger explosion? That was AI because a human artist wouldn’t have drawn it exactly the same.
I that picture you can see that the Index finger on the left hand has it’s second digit longer than the first. I also has a second knuckle between these two digits. Joints between fingers are not that bumpy, at least not on people younger than ~60.
If the artist is known, you can post his name here, no?

Can you explain why the M4 in this picture has 2 forward assist, no charging handle and what looks to be a red dot sight glass instead of a rear iron sight? Could it be because it’s done by an intern for 5 roubles an hour?
Image you quoted seems suspicious because of few things:
- ABXY buttons. 2 of those buttons are square for some reason and have symbol on them while other 2 dont. And they have circular sockets.
- Are those limbs arms in lower corners? If yes then it is impossible to hold joystick like that. Unless you have 2 elbows per arm I guess.
- If those are legs, why pants color is identical to t shirt?
Man’s just got a 20 cm long torso.
his right finger has three joints instead of 2, his left finger is disproportional and too sharp. His thumbs are in position where they have to probably be dislocated and hes gripping a controller with 2 triangles and placed the fingers way past the actual buttons. His shirt also has 3 layers and collars overlapping.
A kid from middle school could trace this better if it was an actual photo, and a real artist wouldnt have made this many mistakes simply because reference material can be your own hands.
Sadly many of the ingame photos are ai or have turned into ai which took a certain part of realism away as these were based on historic photographs.
