Much to do about nothing… If anything its an honest disclosure by leaving the watermarks on them instead of editing it out. But luddites gotta luddite.
that just flies in the face of the purpose of a dev server.
if a vehicle is being modelled incredibly wrong such as the Scimitar CVRT its better if its caught and reported before it gets incredibly bad like my example tank, i spent over a year sending out bug reports on the thing, the sooner the issues are caught and ironed out the better, dev server gives us that extra time.
Gaijin can be very stubborn and slow to change things if they incorrectly think a vehicle is accurate (abrams armour, challenger 2, harriers, russian ERA) so the dev server is extremely important to ensure gaijin is pushed into a more accurate path.
Only the textures
Gaijin even replaced the Canadian flag with the historically accurate one? Nice.
What about pfps?

looks very familiar…

Please also apply this policy to prohibit the use of generative AI for in-game avatars. I would rather purchase in-game avatars that were created without the use of generative AI.
One of the most blatant examples of AI-generated avatar is eSportman (2023).

Here are several examples of avatars made in 2023 and beyond.
Totally agree. I mean old avatars didnt need ai improvements imho. Like we can add less PFPs or even just using/making a picture from real photos, would be much better in that regard.
Fully agreed.
They are A.I., 100%
They also put the German flag upside down on the unity day decal last year.
There has been AI for years, don´t come now and say that you don´t allow it…
Remove all AI generated profile pictures
Or better yet at least bring back custom ones while they short it out
From now on we can just make every single design AI because it is the greatest invention of mankind
These things are real but we we’re talking about AI in War Thunder, not AI in real life usage. You’re a bit off-topic.
And if it’s a stupid thing to be upset about, why not making WT all AI? With AI 3D models, textures, soundtrack, coding, etc… I bet you’d volunteer right away to play it all day right? :)
Please do not discuss real life politics and wars in this thread.
I agree but that’s other question due to the nature of a game we’re playing. It heavily depends on a developers keeping the servers matchmaker and general state of game alive. If we were talking about early 2000s games with dedicated servers - that’s one thing, but War Thunder is based on matchmaker aka centralised system of directing players on different servers based on different aspects.
So now it’s question about questionable content going AGAINST rules of company. I may be against usage of AI in creating new WT vehicles/textures/pfps but even that kind of state in 13 yo game could be aknowledges as Gaijin’s achievement despite the whole my recent criticism. So I’ll leave the question at this point because it’s getting useless to discuss.
Yeah, thanks for reminding
It would be interesting if the devs also reviewed the 3D models of many of the tanks, since they have so thoroughly relied on copy and paste that instead of providing models with small differences, they decided to make them all the same, like the Centurion MkX and the Strv 101, which in the game are identical, whereas in reality they had spotlights in different positions in addition to other objects attached to the hull.
Huh, the star motif on the flag being an intended part of the design from early stages that was chosen to go onto the tank in-game but not in the short is genuinely really interesting. It’s so fascinating to see little implied miscommunications or last-minute decisions like that
