Expanding Customization Options: User Decals

Hi all,

so I really love playing around with creating user camouflages like giving Sora AI a reference image and let it make me a nice Camouflage Pattern, or just searching the Internet, maybe I try to get hands-on eventually as well.

Spoiler

But why can I not make my own Decals to put on Vehicles? They would not be visible to other players anyways. This option is rather sorely lacking in my personal opinion.

Below are some amateur attempts at Decal/Pinup designs:

Figured it out, but a dedicated feature would be nice.

A dedicated feature for custom decals would be cool, if it’s implemented in the same way custom camouflages currently are.

You can make a suggestion for it in the suggestion section:

I’ve tried about 4 times now, and my suggestions just don’t get accepted, why?

So, are you going to tell us how you do it?

I already use what ever custom decal I make. I just layer it over a custom camo I put on my vehicles. I just layer it over the top using photo shop. Many custom skins from warthunder live give you an idea of where the decal will appear when deciding to place it.

I would not mind seeing a custom decal area in warthunder live.

If they are still in you “pending” tab on your profile then they haven’t been handled by the Suggestion Moderators yet. If they are not there then they have been denied and you can send a private message to one of the Suggestion moderators to ask about it. You can find all the teams and the areas they handle listed here: ( Who is who and Reporting Procedure )

I do it quite similarily:

“While it is possible to apply Custom Decals, this can only be done by creating a Skin Template of the desired vehicle, put the .TGA file of the Skin Mesh into a Photoshop program and then manually paint over existing Default Decals on the Default Skin, to apply your own. But then you have created a whole new User Skin that has the Decals Photoshopped on it.”

From my pending Suggestion, no guarantees that it gets passed.
