Everything wrong with the Tan-SAM Kai (TADS)

Thai ADATS?

The one with no moving chassis, so it can only be air defense at the airport. Since Thai get m163, maybe they can add it with a m113a1 chassis.

Bit of a stretch, honestly.

Yeah I couldn’t find anything about it either. But good to know confirmation from someone that knows more than I do.

Interestingly Thailand never had M163, they only had M163A1. So the vehicle we have in game isn’t accurate. Changes are mostly visual, just like how the M60A3 TTS is also visually wrong, but here it’s not just detail but an official variant.

Japan would be totally fine with the Tan-SAM kai we have right now as long as it got its missing features and fixed the bugs. It’s actually a fun SPAA to play, it’s not just about the radar screen and firing missiles like most of the other new SPAAs.

Guys, if you ever get a nuke while using the Tan-SAM kai (or likely any other multivehicle SAM system), make sure to leave the vehicles first. Or this might happen to you:

I don’t think so.

The biggest issue is range. You can’t deter anyone from dropping all their missiles and bombs from range since they know you can’t actually hurt them, especially if they maneuver after dropping (especially at altitude!).

Type 03 Kai would be great as it has two neat benefits:

  1. The launcher fires vertically which makes hiding the launch vehicle behind buildings and other hard cover possible.
  2. Increased range which essentially means the target has to multipath/notch to avoid getting killed which means they’re not launching at you or the team. 24 missiles in total is plenty of deterrence.

Now there is one weakness and that is helicopters, but the Tan SAM suffers from it too if a heli is at multipath height anyway.

Perhaps the AESA seeker on the missile would make it have a smaller notch angle too, who knows. I think the most important feature, apart from range, is having the radar stop spinning and tracking the actual target you launched at for datalink.

Helicopters can abuse notching at altitude too its actually comical how easy it is using that against the buk and sampt

Just because Gaijin refuses to add a proper radar signature to the rotor blades…

When I tried to change one of my Tan-Sam ammo from ir to arh, the reloading kept stopping if I switch back to the radar car. If they can add a function the allows me to plan my loadout like in the air battle it would be great.

Either that or just give us 2x IR and 2x ARH if implementing a proper loadout customization is too hard.

Also give the IR missile the missing IOG+DL…

Launch angle is a thing too, it’s too low.

I’ve gotten the BUK and IRISTSLM. They are a breeze to play. The radar detects and you just shoot the missile, but Tan Sam Kai is 10 times Harder lol. I got the Tan Sam Kai and i think that this vehicle must get reworked. It is the most awful experience of a vehicle in top tier. How is this unrefined piece of trash even allowed to be at top tier. I cant even use the missiles 90% of the time. The ARH tracking is awful you cant even kill a Drone Micro. Angle of shooting means the missile goes into the ground so you cant hide it as well like the BUK or SLM. “Subpar = below an average, usual, or normal level, quality, or the like; below par ” The Radar is Subpar. Missiles range is subpar. Missile tracking is Subpar. Missile explosive is Subpar. I was like finally Japan is getting an Anti Air with and actual Radar but this is unplayable. The lower tier Anti Air vehicles in other nations are better than this piece of shit.

Japan is just so miserable right now compared to other Nations like it had always been. I will play it to get the new vehicles so that i have them and modded but i will not play it for actual Fun becuase its totaly Subpar in Ground, Air and Heli.

Compared to what other Nations have received. Japan should have got the Tan Sam Kai II (Type 11) which is a somewhat comparison to other Vehicles even tho its still worse. The Type 11 Missile is also ARH but with AESA Seeker. Vehicle is fully modern and digital and better radar AESA 50+km. Range of missile is little better. Tracking is much better becuase of AESA Seeker + Datalink. Missile speed better.

This things Radar would be the best of all Anti Airs but the missile range is short so that would balance it.

Notably, the Type 11 explicitly specifies an anti-hovering mode. Given its placement next to the range selection option, it is likely capable of shooting down low-flying helicopters positioned on the opposite side of a ridge via a top-attack trajectory.

just found out that if both launchers are killed and you j out of th radar before the countdown ends you get crewlocked, what a joke is this vehicle

I wouldnt say japan is miserable since the f2 f15jm and type 10 are pretty good
And the type 90 is also quite good
Tan sam is ok at best and works fine as long as you dont use the radar too much
Yeah the firing angles are quite bad but i use my launcher most of the time
But yeah it does need a rework
Also the radar is missing its single target track which is something that would really help when trying to deal with heli or planes flying near the ao

It should have the sector scanning mode with its PESA radar which should not just scan single target but track any in some sector like aircraft radar do it

Is it a bug that sometimes both TELs will fire at one target with one click?
