yeah, i would also never grind them all and i will never understand why people that think, that that is a good and reasonable thing to do. I mean in the frist place, we have 3 vehicels to grind is because they dont want players to be left out.
Also on a different note, people that have trouble with the servers should just buy better internet or dont play on a potato in 90% of the cases

OP, you’re completely right.
This time of the year WT is at its worst. Last time I burned out for 6 months after I done the winter event. This time after only 4 marks for planes and tanks I feel I already had enough.
I don’t have a good time, the grind takes too much time per day and too many days.
Last time was worse since you needed to do specific tasks, like cap x points, kill x things and so on. Still this is only slightly less frustrating. As you say, for chrismas/new year, Gaijin should gift vehicles and such, not make us grind like it’s work. Seriously, this is the worst time in WT.
BTW, got that J9, such a boat. Played 2 games never will use it again.
If I make it to the end(which I doubt), I’ll sell both vehicles and use the gjn to buy other 2 vehicles that I probably use just as much…

This is a decision you alone have taken. I am playing the same game you play but I have decided not to focus on more than one branch. It only gets to feel like work, if you go for more than you can handle. If you only do what you can play best or enjoy most, it is far more pleasant.
And if they would simply gift vehicles, you would still say “J9, such a boat”. Whatever they would gift, people would complain.
I disagree with “it’s your decision” argument since the point here is how enjoyable is the event. These winter events should be the most enjoyable ones out of the whole year, yet the TOG 2 event was far less frustrating than this. Wasn’t it like a third in length and required like 35k mission points or so? I don’t say that should be the standard cause even that is frustrating to a degree, but you have that one and then follow it by this much more frustrating one? Not good.
Concerning the premium Seversky J9 thingy airplane, well, I expected for it to be at least as good as the normal tree J20 which stands at the same BR. It’s worse, very noticeable worse. You generally don’t expect a premium to be worse than a normal tree vehicle in the same tree at the same BR. You expect it to be better…
Off-topic: If there was no marketplace and the vehicles there you could instead buy with GE, I wouldn’t even done the event past the J9. That’s why I try to do the event for both pilots and tankers, cause overpriced vehicles in the market. Otherwise I would just have bought the vehicles I wanted with GE.
But I can’t in the right mind pay 20+ GJN for a freakin rank 2 premium plane and like 30 more GJN for a non-prem rank 6.
I’ll just have to though it up, lose few years of my life in these couple of weeks and get them now (or give up) and burnout for 6 more months or so.

Yeah, enjoy missing out on even more vehicles… that is like 30 winter event vehicles, 30 summer vehicles, maybe 40 crafting vehicles, probably 50+ battlepass vehicles… who needs vehicles anyways.

I love WT I don’t mind the events but this still doesn’t mean I’m deluded fanboy with zero regards for my time or effort. Surely there must be a way to engage the community, give something back and make everyone happy? If I have to work for my reward, what kind of Christmas is that? Gaijin always misses the mark in some way, it’s puzzling really. To blatantly expect your community working three weeks for one lousy copy paste TT award, on dying servers that they will still tax even if you wanna sell, that’s not my idea of fair.
Honestly I can’t wait for this event to finish so I can play normally like a human being as most of others will quit burned out anyways.
Is this something they consider a success?

Well, you can disagree with it, but it remains your decision anyway.
How enjoyable is a party? If you go there, get drunk, get sick, barf and have a hangover, it likely wasn’t really enjoyable to you. But is that the hosts fault or yours?
To me, they are. I didn’t even take part in the TOG2 thing.
That is you. I don’t expect the “free” premium to be better. That would be pay2win, and that is considered bad. I haven’t tried mine yet, but I will soon. The main feature (to me) of this premium is the stat card text anyway.
There is no “have” present. It is a simple choice. You enjoy playing a game mode? Then it will be easy to grind 8 stars for one vehicle you really want. You don’t enjoy playing the game mode or don’t want to take the time? No one really needs these non premium tree extensions. But grinding them would take way more time than buying them right away. For the time it takes me to grind one, I could buy them all and a few premium packs on top. So if I don’t enjoy grinding them, I have two easy options left: Skip or buy. Trust me, skip works just fine. Better life, more fun playing.

- The point is about the quality of the event, not about a decision to play or not to play it.
- Well, the TOG 2 event was much less grindy, while still being too grindy to fair well as a christmas/new year event (at least with me and people like me who don’t want work at this time).
- I expect the “”“free”“” premium to be like any other premium. Not that I have so many premiums, but out of those that I have and tested, most are better than equivalents in normal tech tree. The J9 has the guns going for it, but flies so much worse.
- You might be right and the fact that these vehicles are skipable is another reason why I don’t dig this event. They should been unique. I only grind it to sell them and buy me some unique crap as a real winter “”“gift”“”.
At least the Class 3P was unique-ish. Still regret not selling it.

The event vehicles I like are worth the grind, it is still better than no event at all. Vehicles I don’t like I just skip, if you can do it just because of fomo you can’t blame the game.
However, yes, events are kinda hard grind for players with other in life activities. Of course the point is to make it easy for free time people and buyable for busy ones
PS : easy for free time people : pretty much veterans with high rank vehicles
It’s not FOMO, a lot of them are highly competitive vehicles, some are very useful to make for a competitive lineup, a Sturmtiger or TOG are FOMO because they’re meme vehicles, an IS-7, Object 279, AU-1 or 234/4 are some of the best vehicles out there and not owning them isn’t just a problem because of FOMO.
