Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion

The FM can be simultaneously good and underperforming.

I’ve had no issues fighting in it, but it does feels sluggish at times. (I want to say the issue is in the aircrafts acceleration, feels weird) Thankfully absolute FM performance is rarely relevant in the current meta, which is why for me things like the radar hold much higher priority

tbf the su30 isnt the best dogfighter (without missiles), f18 is good but lacks TWR and iam not sure about the J10 never played it, all i know about it is that it has the GsH-23 which isnt ideal imo

Are there people that actually have like a horrendous k/d in the eurofighter?
I feel like it’s still a plane that can carry an average player to a kd of 2 with relative ease.

Even nerfed the ef is still the best at notch-fire-notch maneuvers, and a lot of times people just expect their missile to hit only to be blindsided that you notched and are sending a missile back.

The problem with that is the rivals to Typhoon have been buffed or knew additions have been added.
When Typhoon was originally added you could easily get several kills with a 120.
I haven’t played many games in Air RB after nerfs but from what I could tell the 120s were easier to defeat likely due to players learning to listen to the RWR.

Most kills were F/A-18 premiums and Su-33s.

There are several core weaknesses that you have to work around but when you do, it works well. Like the clunkyness of the radar and the weak nature of the BOL. You also have to adapt a playstyle that actually suites the weak HOBS nature of Aim-9M and Aim-120.

It also took me a long time to just adjust my playstyle to one that suites the typhoon. I was so use to mud moving or playing defensively from aircraft like the F3 that basic things like flying at any altitude other than 100ft took massive conscious effort.

Once I adjusted for that, I started doing well.

But still frustrating some of the weirdness the typhoons FM has, like it seems to take a week to accelerate at times and it’s largely random (or at least that is what it felt like)

The next iteration, JAGM-MR, uses tri-mode IIR, MMW, and SAL seeker though. So IR is still useful, and has its advantages

There is talk of that, but considering we don’t have JAGM in service yet. I deduce it really isn’t necessary or a requirement

Are you from UK?

I am, and it appears the USMC has JAGM on their AH-1Zs

Yeah that’s why I asked, thanks

JAGM-MR has been tested from the ground for sure, nothing public about tests on helicopters. Since it and the GBU-53 have IR modes there must be a good reason to have them on there

Im pretty sure TWS+ wasnt made for data adaptive scanning. Quite frankly, idk why they even made TWS+. Like I said, I only know of 2 radars with P-track, so its really not much work.

I just think it was a failed attempt at addressing ghosting

Its bizarre how it seems that the more the years drag on, the worse gaijin models radars…

The fun Radar pointing down bug is also back…bind that reset key folks!

is that an VWS for Weapon Aviable or what?

Yeah, much like the IR signature issues, I think they are just building upon code written back when they were brand new to the game, with the most basic range finder radars in things like the Hunter or very basic SRC radars like those in Javelin.

These highly complicated radars that have to deal with a million more bits of code and functionality just fall apart

Sounds like “weapons unavailable” probably because they’ve deployed the fuel probe. Also supppppeer funny, my German bros have to listen to what must sound like Maggie Thatcher telling them off.

Are there an ASRAAM on the left side of a German Eurofighter?
