Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion (Part 2)

Stratus LO was primarily a British need, while RS was French need. Hopefully, both nations will acquire both variants, as it would definitely help economy of scale

meteor mlu is dead ? At least for UK.

While not referenced in the 30 June spending report, a senior defence official confirms that the UK will no longer support a mid-life upgrade for MBDA’s Meteor beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile.

Interesting. A few weeks ago a French report was still mentioning the MLU to enter service in 2030, along side the Comet (with next to nothing known about it).
The end of the funding from the British might impact the project development

I’m really looking forward to seeing where this will be mounted. It would be great if it could be carried on the currently empty pylons. It would be disappointing if it were mutually exclusive with the MRAAMs.

Yeah my problem is the leader leaving, in the case of Storm Shadow/SCALP, at it’s core it was a french design with some changes, and UK not having an active line at the opposite of France, so it’s not a problem for them to stop investing into it, SCALP mk2 is most likely a french only upgrade too.

I don’t know exactly who was leading the MLU program specifically. While the UK was the initial “contractor”, and they were the overall architects, it might be that MBDA internally changes the lead team from say, a UK team, to another European entity. Also, overall, the changes to the MLU might largely be seeker and other electronic upgrades, which might not necessitate UK’s financial involvement - for example the seeker will probably still use a MICA NG derivated seeker

Nice, so AARGM-ER for blue force in the future aka next major update (additionally BUK-M3 gets replaced by S300 next minor patch). Only thing missing is now six ARM loadout for the EF or at least four without having to sacrifice A2A loadout :D

GNSS maybe?

Even ARMs like ALARM that should ahve basically no drift, follow the same gaijin standard that IOG = dozens of metres of drift.

So if they did have GNSS over IOG, then they would probably be a lot more accurate

Yea, it does look cooler then AGM-88C

i kinda hope the EF´s dont get AARGM-ER, at best they should get AARGM as that is the only one planned to be integrated (with EF EK but who cares atp)

With sound mods now finally back, Finally decided to take the EFT out for a spin and god-damn those instructor changes are nice. You can do this crazy thing called “turning”.

first word of the bulletpoint my friend and idk who is integrating the AARGM-ER tbh (germany isnt afaik), i think this is them betting on germany procuring the ER for the EF EK in the future since we have procured the normal AARGM already

EFT could not turn before?

Germany is integrating it, that is also why they bought both the normal and er version.

we are only procuring the AARGM base

The Rudder/Instructor was useless. When you turned, the rudder would oscillate constantly, causing the tail to flop all over the place. Every turn took way longer as a result and you bled speed like crazy. At low alt and low speed it could even cause you to stall and crash.

Now, when you turn, the rudder does its job, and turns are a lot more smooth.
