Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion (Part 2)

Will sort it tomorrow :)

Well, that’s the thing about the 8x8 maps, you have to stay alert so the SAMs don’t take you down while you’re identifying enemy aircraft to keep them from wiping out your team, all while they’re spamming Kh-38s and LMURs.

When that happens (which is most of the time), the radar becomes pretty much useless, since there are so many missiles in the air that it struggles to properly identify aircraft or helicopters, and that’s on top of the issues the Captor-M radar already has

I’ve barely seen a single one on the 8x8 maps. Hey, but like I mentioned before, I enjoy flying the Typhoon and using the Brimstones well… sort of, since they only work with laser guidance… and still doesn’t has F&F armament…

Also, with this latest update where they supposedly “improved” the missile smoke trails, the AIM-9M has become practically useless, because the trail can be seen from a long distance and lingers for quite a while. The whole essence of the AIM-9M has basically disappeared.

They didn’t just “improve” the smoke trail. They reworked the whole seeker behavior completly (without any notice in the patchnotes). It’s now effectively as unreliable as an R-60M as the seeker shut-off time was increased to nearly 2 seconds and the IOG overcorrects massively, guiding the missile off-course so fast that it can’t reaquire the target anymore because it’s outside of its FoV.
Sometimes it even refuses to lock-on at all, because of being constantly in the seeker shut-off state. Had that happen multiple times, flying 2 km behind another plane which constantly pops flares every two seconds → No lock-on possible. Other times it locks but the lock drifts into nirvana really fast as the IOG is unable to do its job at all.

I’ve used the 140 pattern every so often when there’s only 1-2 enemies left. It is unironically absurdly good and finds the enemy with ease. Sucks at holding the TWS track though so I tend to swap back to 30x8 or 60x4 the moment it finds something.

-Pyotr, that’s not a part of our helicopter!

Ha ha i’m enjoying the Paveway dropped one on a Su-30 landing to rearm and caught an Mi-28 and Ka-50 hovering near the heli pad.

They just don’t expect it

Indeed, but you should expect a surge of dophamine every time that happens.

Just a few more, with PoV.

Extra points for the cockpit POV ha ha

Just played some Air RB and wow what have Gaijin done to the seeker of the 9M??

Tracked nothing, overshot ignored flares and the aircraft in shots that were usually a safe bet.

Already ranted about that multiple times :P
Seeker shut-off time seems to have been lengthened to 1-2 seconds and the IOG overcompensates extremely. Additionally there’s a bug that under certain conditions the guidance/control surfaces lock up forcing the missile to turn into nowhere.

Here’s the post with a video of the guidance lock-up:

Typhoon is becoming so painfully mid, Now not only do I have the worst ARHM (At top tier) and the fewest amount but my IR missiles are now useless.

Combine that with questionable FM why is still having massive AOA power loss issues and floating when at high altitude and a Radar that is very hit or miss. We are going to be massively surpassed by Christmas, If Gaijin thinks this thing is ready to face F-15GE (which will at some point get 12 120s) and that FM buff and Gaijins interpretation of the Su-35 they are really mistaken.

Just another effort by Gaijin to make Western kit seem subpar.

Have those issues ever been reported?

Not that I know of and I didn’t as of yet. If you want to report it, feel free to use the video ^^

I could narrow the happening of the guidance lock-up down to shots that require the missile to maneuver hard directly after leaving the rail (short distances, enemy plane flying from left-to-right or vice versa in front of you, like in the video).

Additionally there’s stuff broken for lock-on in general. Like locking on but instantly switching to IOG without any valid vector data causing the lock to drift into nirvana really fast. On other occasions it refuses to lock altogether (for example a SU-27 using afterburner from behind at 1-2 km) because the seeker is continously in seeker shut-off state as the enemy plane is popping flares every 1-2 seconds.

9m shouldnt have seeker shutoff before launch as well

Of course, but 1-2 seconds shut-off time (I’m pretty sure it’s 2 seconds)? And even if the flares are outside of the seeker FoV and only in the general direction the seeker is looking?

i think you miss understood what i wrote

9M should be able to lock onto flares before launch

I want to work on one for the IRCCM not working at all in Front Aspect, but they’ll probably ask for sources confirming that the IRCCM actually works in front aspect IRL.

Ah, sorry, I’m always expecting a ’ in a word if it’s negated so I read over “shouldnt” as “should” ^^

Didn’t they make a devblog a few years ago about the working of all-aspect IR-seekers and IR-seekers in general?
There they explained how it works themselves so you could reference themselves as a source lol
