Skill issue
Probably, So you could offer advice
Wanna try evading IRIS-T in a custom game? I can help
Switch to French tree.
Might take you up on that, pretty busy this week but yeah thanks
Hey I like a challenge would feel dirty having that much power!
Typhoon Radar, is doing me dirty in ground battles, not seeing jets flying low even though I’m on the deck. Just really poor again, couldn’t find an F-16 yet the RWR can, couldn’t see an Ah-64 yet the RWR could and couldn’t lock or see a Su-30… 9km ahead of me. Gaijin need to triple the RCS of that thing in game it’s a joke it can sneak past a modern Radar system.
Tried Narrow scan, slightly wider scan set to 30km (or whatever the exact number is)
Doesn’t find targets I am more likely to spot them and then lock them using ACM or HMD against a Rafale or even a Su-30 you need to see them at the same time or you lose.
If we are not going to fix the Radar can we at least have the RWR locating targets for the Radar, that sensor fusion thing Gaijin talked about?
They should also fix the TWS tracks with datalink. Sometimes tracks will not be updated but generated as new tracks (discarding the old ones) causing the fired ARH missiles not to update their trajectory consequently missing their target.

It’s also happened to me on the 8x8 maps, since they’re so small but extremely wide, using the radar at a range of 37 km (23 mi) with the conventional 30x8 search mode makes it quite uncomfortable and busy to identify low flying targets while also keeping an eye on incoming SAMs, or enemy aircraft.
That’s why I usually switch to the 60x4 mode to get wider azimuth coverage, but since the scan frequency drops so much, most of the time the radar either struggles to get a solid lock, locks onto the wrong target, or by the time it does, the enemy is already within close range.
Basically, you end up relying on your RWR and your visual to use your HMD/ACM.
Besides, 99% of them are flying Su-30SMs and Rafales since they have much greater offensive capabilities thanks to their air to air and air to ground armament, and makes them much easier to identify since they’re equipped with AESA radars.
Hey but here we are, flying the Typhoon just because I like it
I genuinely dont use the larger scan pattern but might have to try it.
I suppose it’s frustrating as you said im trying to dodge SAMs and fight jets when the Radar fails you.
Will sort it tomorrow :)
Well, that’s the thing about the 8x8 maps, you have to stay alert so the SAMs don’t take you down while you’re identifying enemy aircraft to keep them from wiping out your team, all while they’re spamming Kh-38s and LMURs.
When that happens (which is most of the time), the radar becomes pretty much useless, since there are so many missiles in the air that it struggles to properly identify aircraft or helicopters, and that’s on top of the issues the Captor-M radar already has
I’ve barely seen a single one on the 8x8 maps. Hey, but like I mentioned before, I enjoy flying the Typhoon and using the Brimstones well… sort of, since they only work with laser guidance… and still doesn’t has F&F armament…
Also, with this latest update where they supposedly “improved” the missile smoke trails, the AIM-9M has become practically useless, because the trail can be seen from a long distance and lingers for quite a while. The whole essence of the AIM-9M has basically disappeared.
They didn’t just “improve” the smoke trail. They reworked the whole seeker behavior completly (without any notice in the patchnotes). It’s now effectively as unreliable as an R-60M as the seeker shut-off time was increased to nearly 2 seconds and the IOG overcorrects massively, guiding the missile off-course so fast that it can’t reaquire the target anymore because it’s outside of its FoV.
Sometimes it even refuses to lock-on at all, because of being constantly in the seeker shut-off state. Had that happen multiple times, flying 2 km behind another plane which constantly pops flares every two seconds → No lock-on possible. Other times it locks but the lock drifts into nirvana really fast as the IOG is unable to do its job at all.
I’ve used the 140 pattern every so often when there’s only 1-2 enemies left. It is unironically absurdly good and finds the enemy with ease. Sucks at holding the TWS track though so I tend to swap back to 30x8 or 60x4 the moment it finds something.
Ha ha i’m enjoying the Paveway dropped one on a Su-30 landing to rearm and caught an Mi-28 and Ka-50 hovering near the heli pad.
They just don’t expect it
Indeed, but you should expect a surge of dophamine every time that happens.
Just a few more, with PoV.
Parry this you filthy casual!
Extra points for the cockpit POV ha ha
