I cant recall of the top of my head what CMs the Su-30 has. but the Rafale is dropping large calibre chaff iirc, wouldnt be surprised if that factors into this heavily.
But I dont think the CAPTOR-M likes anything that is shifting its position perpindicular to your position by any significant amount.
The funny thing is: It looses lock of the F-15E at 1 km distance even before the target is flaring/chaffing (watch the lock already drift downwards before the chaff appears).
The missile from the F-15E was already fired before I launched with a solid lock. Otherwise the seeker would have to have a 2 seconds long seeker shut-off. Usually the IOG panics with the lock if the seeker shuts off.
Just restore their behavior from before the last major update then everythings fine. Currently it’s nearly unusable, especially in shots at short distances from the sides (which is a guarantee for a lock-up + miss).
Yea, the replay Is a bit weird. Both missiles were outside of the missile’s FOV. Plus, the missile show it’s in track mode until basically before hitting the ground where it switches to SCR. I’m not sure the replay is actually accurate to what really happened, at least server side. I do also believe it switched to the missile(with the seeker FOV being wrong in replay) - and tried a much tighter turn causing it to dip, since that’s often the logic of missiles when they try to turn hard in game, as seen with AGM like kh38 and AASM who got their guidance fixed to correct that problem in HOBS
The time of the missile losing target (lock drifts down/target drops flares) and switching from TRK to SRC in this replay is somewhere between 2 and 2,5 seconds long. So either the seeker shut-off is this long (which would be insane) or the guidance locks up (seeker + controls) and it’s shown as still tracking. Guidance locking up would also explain the flight path as it seems to pull constant AoA and Gs into the same direction until shortly before impact into the ground (the moment it switches to SRC).
I had another match yesterday, nearly the same effect. Missile locks (lock-cone is shown all the time following the F-16 I was shooting at) but the controls seem to lock up and turn the missile into a circle and a downward dive into terrain. That was on the same map ironically as this map is one of the few where you fly between many mountains and meet targets from their sides rather often.
Another one, this time directly from behind with the missile going to Narnia without any apparent reason:
Spoiler
Edit: Aw yeah, he launched an R-27ER the moment I launched my missile… But even that one it failed to track (while still showing TRK) and goes into a completly other direction. Additionally: Is the IRCCM not working for launched missiles? Shouldn’t it act like a flare was launched?
Is that even possible? Doesn’t the Arexis integration replace the wingtip pods which are used for the DASS? Could that also mean with the Arexis wingtip pods the EF gets wingtip pylons like the Gripen but loosing its towed decoy?
