So there two things most important to highlight for improvement on the Typhoon/Eurofighter in general: the radar capability, and the ability to conduct multiple attack using the Brimstone with (mmW) — millimetre-wave Seeker
TVC missile are still gimped in their total thrust deflection by quite a large margin. This would allow them to reach peak G load at even lower speed, thus achieving better HOB in low speed engagements
Yep. Both would be major buffs. Others include
- BOL Overhaul (for decent CMs)
- Finished FM (its still underperforming in most respects)
- HOBS missile (biggest weakness in a dogfight is that we have Dud-9Ms for WVR fights)
and then there are niche buffs for things like ASB such as:
- IFF DL
- Cockpit overhaul
Radar definitely needs improvements yeah. However, I don’t think Brimstones are the good armement to wish for. Either they’ll be broken AF, or they’ll be near useless (if they go for allies and dead tanks cause they apparently aren’t great at target recognition between dead, allied and enemy vehicles).
The spear would be more interesting, comparable to the AASM/KH38MT. Probably better than the AASM with their multi mode seeker and better speed, idk about kh38
In this instance I’d say everything that’s not the su30sm for cockpit, and IFF for Rafale, is needed for every vehicles in game. It’s so weird how they gatekeep some cockpit things for only some vehicles (like su30 NTCR and rafale IFF, but on the other hand the HMD of the rafale lacks radar contacts…)
Being able to use PIRATE to ID targets would be nice too. (Not even a new system for the game it’s on a few other aircraft but just missing from the Typhoon.)
Oh yeah, cockpits are busted across the baord:
But they seem to have systematically broken the Typhoons cockpit over the past 8 months instead of fixing it
Yep, that too. PIRATE is still barely worth using at the moment and yeah. Its annoying we are denied that and GMTI Tpod Cueing
They’d never add the automatic target recognition, we’d just get FnF like IR but able to see trough smoke. Limit it to 6 for all i care but FnF AGM in current meta is non-negociable.
The other options are there if gaijin wants them as well but they’re not that good.
I have yet to see a single source that actually states this anywhere. Only people trying to find excuses for not adding MMW
In game they would probably go for dead and allied tanks if they added Automatic Acquisition(will never happen), but you can manually cue them as well which would avoid that situation.
A MMW seeker probably doesn’t have IFF, not like a IR seeker has one either.
It can identify the target, and pick the best location to hit that target for maximum damage. So at the very least it can tell the difference between a Leopard and a T-72 for example.
And this all becomes slightly irrelevant if you switch from the Mode 3 operation which is full LOAL and to Mode 2 operations which is LOBL using a combo of SAL+IOG for getting to the right area and then MMW only in the terminal phase
But yeah. I think its a mute point. It will just be a C&P of IIR with an extra bell or whistle attached
Unless they limit it to 6 missiles, this method would be the busted method I mentioned above. And adding such a limit would be a first for gaijin. Also they stated a while ago that they didn’t want to add seeker modes who could see through smoke for the discussion around the FnF hellfire
I believed I already shared the following PowerPoint a while ago. It was for the first iteration of MMW brimstones I believe. While the technology might have evolved, I don’t see how MMW radar as, especially in the small form factor of the brimstone, could accurately differentiate different types of target aside from maybe a big vehicle (like a Tank or large wheeled IFV) to a small target like a car. This could realistically be done with man in the loop from the plane designating certain areas for the missile to look at (and not the area where the friendlies are), but this is also something Gaijin currently doesn’t plan to add
its 96ghz that “produces a near optical images”.
iirc, the primary source correctly on the seeker performance
Then how do they launch them from a truck in Ukraine. If they were a liability you would not use them
Actually yeah, it kinda needs to be able to use ATR in order to be launched in the Pre-Programmed mode, because it needs to tell the difference to accurately target different vehicles using its seeker.
I think things like targeting dead tanks, TKs, etc etc are being blown massively out of proportion. And if AASM can get moving target tracking and KH-38 can get an IIR seeker at all. Then giving Brimstones IFF seems like a trivial addition assuming they have any form of LOAL at all
Yeah that won’t ever happen.
Just give us IR that can see trough smoke already gaijin.
Or just IR bombs, or IR mini bombs.
Tbf this also doesn’t say much. The TV contrast seekers used on the Maverick are also pure optical image, and yet, unless we are speaking of the most modern seekers, almost none have sufficient image quality to determine friend or foe. That is also considering that the missile carries an internal library of different vehicles (I honestly dont know).
The Ukrainian front is completely different from War Thunder. First of all, in many cases, you’ll see allied and enemy vehicles at least several miles away. Secondly, the Ukrainian theater is usually large plains with the only targets to be picked by radars being the targets you want to shoot. They also probably use Man In the Loop configuration, and/or terminal phase radar guidance, which is currently a no no for Gaijin.
Real life performances doesn’t equal war thunder performances.
Not all of it, it has been used to target convoys from trucks and they don’t go for burned out vehicles. I am well aware real life performance, but then why are we making bug reports to try and get real life performance for aircraft? Games realistic or it isn’t
All Brimstones launched in UKR were probably preprogrammed to a target area and ATR did the rest of the work.
