Do Gaijin model smoke differently?
Correct me if im wrong but smoke (not ESS but actual smoke grenades) i think block IR at every single BR. Something tells me a WW2 tank wasnt operating IR-CM smoke
(Ive never actually tested this, but Im fairly certain I recall Tiger IIs still blocking TVD on the sriker back when they could see each other)
Since then they have changed it to smoke mortars not blocking IR, but I believe actual smoke dispensers still do.
Yeah in that case even more reason for radar coutermeasures to be modelled if they already apply this blanket modelling system to smokes.
nope, i tried once to report on the smoke duration, not a bug, all smoke nades are the same in game

Neat, going stick this report in my back pocket. Might prove useful.
Kinda looks like a Puma
URGENT NEWS.
Guys, avoiding BUK is actually not only possible, but quite easy, idk why but I share my experience with you - just face the launch direction and do barrel rolls, lol. Was chaffing all the way too, but don’t think it matters.
Would BUK work vs. very low flying jets?
On paper yes, given the size of tbe proxy fuse, idk about the legitimacy of that statcard though
Some correction. Worked for me at around 1200 km/h my speed - 9-4km from the buk
Last I checked there wasn’t chaff that worked in the 94Ghz range. Typically broadband chaff covers 2-18Ghz.
We’re in a funny spot right now, we’ve got the most modern GBAD systems available for most countries in game now. We have a decent number of the available APS equipped vehicles. If Brimstone and similar weapons cannot be balanced against the stand off capabilities of say BuK or Aster then its basically an undefeatable dooms day weapon which obviously isn’t the case.
You only have to follow Brimstone/SPEAR 3 development to know the reason Brimstone isn’t carrying on in the fast jet air to ground role, even with Brimstone 2/3, the range isn’t sufficiently high enough when in contested airspace in the modern battle space.
SPEAR 3 is a Brimstone 2/3 seeker strapped to a miniture jet. With the same effector. So the seeker was still ample for the job, the warhead as well.
So to drive the point home, the only thing that balances Brimstone is area denial, which I can’t see getting any stronger than it is now.
Well, the current GBAD systems ingame are the most modern many nations could have in name only. SLM is underperforming, Aster-30 is as well, and I’m sure CAMM-ER is along with them. Most of the radars are at a fraction of the capability they have irl, munition interception is shody and unreliable at best, 60m multipath coupled with underperforming short range performance for some of these systems makes them violently allergic to pop-up attacks, no teamwide datalink means system performance is further degraded, map sizes are attrocious for hiding these systems, etc…
These GBAD systems irl work as part of a distributed network of air defense and air assets covering eachother, not on 2.25km² maps with defined spawnpoints and map boundaries, all while subjecting these GBAD systems to literal frontline combat.
Ive long been warning about this for both air battles and ground battles, the game just cannot accomodate the vehicles and weapons we are now operating and those people are requesting. The maps are too small, the objective sets are too simple, and the code clearly isnt up to snuff at this point. The game is tearing at the seems infront of our eyes because of gaijin and to a large degree, the communities refusal to accept larger maps and more complex objectives, all while pushing for ever more advanced weapons and vehicles. Brimstone with MMW would be busted in-game, just like all the other standoff F&F munitions we have in-game now.
A single SLM battery isnt going to cope with 18 MMW brimstones being launched, nor are any of the radar guided systems, forever at tge mercy of the multipath crutch, simply due to the fact that they have nowhere to hide, and they have no real means of threatening a good pilot either, ignoring the fact they just straight up do not have enough interceptors at the ready (max of 16) to deal with a jet capable of launching 18, even if we were super generous and pretended the GBAD system had a 100% interception rate against munitions in-game.
Oh yeah my follow up point would always be GRB in its current form with the current systems isn’t appropriate. It’s basically the WW2 format but with 2025 weapons. Vehicular shipment if you will (for the Cod knowers out there).
…
I’ve been hoping for a while that Gaijin would dedicate an entire update to just gamemodes but I can’t see that making them any money so it seems unlikely.
That’s what I just said a bit earlier, the core game of top tier is tearing itself apart because Gaijin is dead-set on making the game as brain dead as possible so that everyone can jump on board (Which from a business point of view makes a lot of sense). But it’s obvious that the ancient implementation of Ground Forces can no longer cope with the complexity of present day weaponry and systems.
It’s about time Gaijin really takes the same to address this by implementing new game modes and re-imagining the core of top tier gameplay, new maps, new objectives, etc…
How is this not added yet
