The “early” version would just be IRIS-T fired using analogue bus iirc. Significantly limits the missiles capabilities pre-launch. For example, I seem to remember something saying fired with analogue bus, its gimbal limit pre-launch is something like 45 deg (i think its made to emulate an AIM-9L in analogue mode maybe?).
It would make the missile significantly more bareable, particularly if they put it on a terrible airframe like the F-4F KWS LV, as I’ve previously suggested could have been done to make the KWS LV a viable 13.7 during the half year it acted as germanys “top” fighter
P4 is a 4th gen IR missile iirc, same generation as the R-73, and basically every russian IR missile until the R-74M2 I believe. So not exactly first of its kind to be added.
Realistically, the ideal introduction to 5th gen IR missiles would be an analogue bus IRIS-T.
I am surprised AIM-9X has not yet already been added on US helis. Usually IR missiles come first on helis before they’re added to top tier aircrafts. AIM-9L and AIM-9M were on helis before aircrafts to my understanding.
Well, search is over and I got nothing. The only way to prove it - direct mail to either Eurofighter GmbH or BaE systems or NETMA or Leonardo or RAF. Very sad.
correct me if i am wrong, i now the pic is blurry and its a twin seat EF but it does carry the AMRAAM missiles on the outest pylons where in game you can only fit sidewinder
