The only changes really of note are the buffs to the radar power, but it still has a lot of work before I would consider the radar up to IRL spec. If you play either Britain or Italy, the PIRATE IRST got some work done to it as well, but that is sitll underperforming a lot.
But overall, not many changes since the update due to the devs being away on holiday (Orthodox Chirstmas is later than the rest of the world) likely reutnring to normality next week and hopefully more updates ASAP
If you put the Radar in narrow scan you just get ambushed I’m honestly going to try the long mode ACM
CAP just isn’t much fun for me, yes I can hawk the air spawn and kill all of their CAS aircraft but that feels really cheap (like spawn camping) as a guy who remembers players hawking the airbase in IL2 I tend to hate that. However it’s a viable strat.
Su-34 are perfect for Aim120s as they are always high with the KH-38 launches. But as playing as Britain you are usually in a Typhoon after the Russians have spawned taking a 9.3 to top tier as your light tank sucks! On the deck though even when slightly lofted or launched from above 120s just don’t seem to hit the mark for me (included screen shot) slow flying heli that lofted my 120 at…you can see how wrong the missile has calculated that intercept!
Brimstones are ok for me they just require a lot of mental load when trying to defend from SAMs and jets and be in a position to pop up and turn on the laser.
Oh i dont even attempt to throw AMRAAMs at helis. It almost never works. I stick to brimstones on helis and Su39s and 120s or 9Ms at the rest of the planes.
I’ve only done it once (I dont play much GRB) and was an AMRAAM fired from a Sea Harrier FA2, I wasnt all that high and the heli (and apache) was fairly low to the ground, but was moving. Nailed it without issue. Was kinda interesting it hit without issue. But yeah, Brimstones would be my go to for dealing with a heli unless it was a longer ranged shot purely from a TWS lock.
Brimstones seem to be more reliable than 120s down low against any target.
9M are good but they are kinematically defeated by the Rafales and Su-27s and they can be flared pretty easily.
Ive actually had pretty good experience with 9Ms against flankers and other stuff in GRB. They do tend to be hit or miss in a headon engagements, but majority of the time they are very very very good.
In dogfights they tend to kinda struggle a bit but honestly i got really nice experience and time with 9Ms, especially when people think multipathing is going to save them from the amraam and just fly in straight line making the 9M have easy time to smoke em.
As for brimstones, they are great when youre on the tail of someone that thinks flares will save them. Often mainly Su39s since they are used to the DIRCM confusing IR missiles.
Other than that i use brimstones to snipe planes that are rearming on the airfield, thinking they are safe. Most often Su34s after they killed half my team with Kh38MTs.
Its only in rear or near-rear aspect that the IRCCM on it works fully.
I’ve had way too many side aspect shots defeated by the target just popping a few flares and continuing on as if nothing has happened. As if I had fired Aim-9L not an Aim-9M
Lol, yeah the 9Ms are pretty ass in front-aspect, but I’ve always had the most luck on side aspect shots. Then again, I am pretty conservative with my heatseeker missile shots in general.
